No way we would be this lucky!! Not gonna happen, SAS is such an ahole!

If true though, apparently Houston is offering Scola, Battier, Ariza. That makes Hedo expendable. Hopefully we can get rid of Hedo/Jose/Expirings and get an upgrade at PG or use the MLE to do it.

I'd take NY picks + Lowry + Battier + salary fillers. Battier would be a nice veteran presence who we could trade at the deadline.

Please say no to Brooks. The guy is basically a faster and shorter Mike James......

I see Colangelo taking Scola.

Not crazy about Brooks either, but at least he's on a short/cheap contract, and there may be other teams interested in him.

SAS is on Fox Sports, not ESPN.

That said, this afternoon on ESPN radio, Chris Broussard reported that negotiations between the Houston Rockets and Bosh's people have heated up.

I really want nothing to do with Houston's GM. He is a mastermind when it comes to building a franchise. I mean look what he got from Tracy McGrady's corpse! BC can only get fleeced. I suspect a fleecing above all fleecing if these two negotiate.

However, they do have alot of nice assets. If I had it my way I would love the following deal to go down. This would greatly help us rebuild our team properly with prospects and picks.

S&T Bosh

For

Jeffries,Battier(Bought out and he returns to Houston)+Hill+Budinger+2 Knicks picks

This trade would take absolutely nothing away from the Houston core. I think Bosh could care less about his rookie backup and Birdinger. Those Knick picks are hit and miss. Could be good, could be garbage.

Other assets I would be interested in are Patterson's right and Kyle Lowry.

If Bosh goes to Houston i don't think a TPE is even possible. Aren't they over the cap?

they are not over - but they must trade some players & a TPE

The TPE would not be as large as if you traded with Miami, Knicks or Bulls

You could structure a deal around Battier, Jeffries, Anderson, Hill, Hayes and not touch a single contract that last more than this season. The right combination of expirings would net a TPE of about $4 million.

I really don't see the Raptors taking Ariza or Scola unless Houston finds a third willing to take them on. Even Hill is totally redundant to the Raptors.

My guess is that this is one deal where BC would dig in his heels and hold out for expirings, picks, prospects and small TPE. Since Lowry is looking for a starting job (Indiana), Houston might also want Jack in the deal.

Better to keep him for a while and then trade him.

Honestly, I think we get a better deal than that. A deal with Houston gives BC significantly more leverage. I really like Scola, Battier & Ariza but Ariza is on a long contract and Scola is a free agent about to be signed to a long contract. That being said, Scola would have to agree to the sign and trade as well. Would he? As appealing as Toronto can be to foreign players, there's already three power forwards on this roster who are guaranteed playing time.

We need to rebuild with youth. Scola is 29 or 30 already. No thanks. Battier is expring and Ariza is an overpaid chucker.

Agree with you on Ariza and Hill, and really hope you're right about Scola.

This could also just be a negotiating tactic by Bosh....perhaps to persuade the Bulls to part with Noah so that a S&T deal with the Raps becomes a whole lot more feasible. :dontknow:

From the start it appeared as if Bosh will attach himself to either Wade/LBJ...why change now?!

Exactly! That's the beauty of the sign and trade with Houston. They have plenty of tradable assets that would have almost zero effect on whether Bosh would want to stay or not. I'm sure there are plenty of potentially good trades for us with them. Another thing to consider is that if they land bosh, they probably won't have the same ability to groom and develop young players in the "win now" mode. Holding on to Hill could decrease his value if he's getting minutes like he did on the knicks.

The sad fact is that Bosh to HOU will gain momentum and will probably be the deal that happens. It is the least sexy deal and it would provide us little to no flexibility to add other pieces as the TPE would be small. If we grab Brooks I guess it would be alright, but I too liken him to a Mike Jameish player. It would also leave us with a glut of PG's. At this point I am getting tired and just want some closure so we can see who and what we are moving forward with.

The good news Scola is very low probability that BC drafted two PF/C + resigned Amir. Add to the fact Scola is FA and has to agree to this. I don't think there is enough time for all that to be work out. Although it won't stop BC, Scola is bad fit given our commitment to Bargs. Also Ariza is bad fit with Turko on this team, so that is also unlikely.

So I don't think BC can **** this up. The two bad possibilities (Scola/Ariza) are both unlikely. So nothing but good can come out of sign/trade with Houston.

Lowry isn't considerably taller than Brooks if at all, BUT he is what Brooks isn't: a pass-first mentality point - unafraid to take it to tin and b/c of a suspect outside jumper, doesn't fall in love w/ staying out on the perimeter. Stockily built so invites/initiates/welcomes contact.

What do we want Jordan Hill for with amir & ed davis. I am not really big on brooks either. I know a lil about Kyle Lowry but does he have breakout potential?? Is their another level he can take his game to with more playing time??

I'd want Lowry + Ariza + Budinger + pick from them. They're only losing one satarter out of that deal.

The Houston deal could work out incredibly for us if BC demands the NY picks- then Lebron goes back to Cleveland. There will basically be nothing but leftovers for NY to sign (and maybe Amare if he doesn't go to Miami), and that is what you call hitting a goldmine.

I wouldn't even worry about taking Scola and trying to flip him to a 3rd team... or since Houston is negotiating with him right now, they probably already know who is interested and what they would give up. Any of these cap space teams could take his entire salary for nothing (if they needed a PF at $8 mil), which essentially gives us that coveted TPE again.

In a trade with Houston it's not only what is valuable to us (Battier, picks), but what assets can net us more from other teams. Additional expirings are of no interest, I don't think.

Hi,

Look at the market. Battier is worth more than a TPE. You can trade Battier straight up for a 2nd rounder or more from someone which creates a TPE for us. Battier is a valuable piece some team will want to have considering he's relatively cheap and expiring.

We can also get Brooks if we want. We can say no. Rockets don't have cap room, so no leverage.

Brooks + Battier + Jefferies + Hill + Rockets' 2011 pick (swappable)

Oh and if the Bulls can dump Hinrich for the 16th pick, we can dump Jefferies + another expiring contract by giving up Hill. That alone would create another large TPE for us.
