Will they investigate that?

Maybe if there is heavy action on his unders. But taking techs and therefore fines to make money on bets that are capped on most books at 1-2k per bet tops, doesn’t make much sense.

If someone wins a million on that bet, then yes.

what about Darko not subbing Barnes back in a close game because he wanted to "save his timeout"?

Gambling is a disease and pro sports is heading for extinction by engaging such practices.

Don't know if this has been suggested, but the only way this makes sense is that Jontay was in debt to some bad people over his previous crypto investment "business". He needed the money fast. But then ... why not ask his brother?

 So many weird Nick decisions to chose from - especially last season. But calling timeout when we had the Warriors completely on the ropes in the last two minutes of Game 5 had to be the worst.

And now I see it in a different way.

I really don't understand why he's still on the roster at this point.

Due process

If you’re ever accused of anything, you’ll appreciate it.

He's done in the NBA the second that tweet comes out from Woj. They can't bring him back, not now.

I get where you are coming from but hypothetically, let’s say it comes out it was a Raptors trainer and their friends and family placing the bets and that all Jontay is guilty of is indicating he might not be able to play much if all in the coming game. Very doubtful in my mind but there are scenarios where he’s blameless, isn’t there, however unlikely seeming?

How can you prove that he didn't know? That's the problem here. Even if he did nothing, the optics are the optics.

The league can't rewind here.

If I am being suspended for life and the basis is pure optics and credible alternative exists than if I’m Jontay I am suing the league and likely winning reinstatement either through the courts or the PA filing a grievance.

Absolutely. He can't make it back though, as the league loses all credibility.

Same could be said of reckless speculation and humanity. Everyone's s being turned in a short term gambler looking for the way to game the system. The world only works if there are "useful idiots" who can be mined.

You’re probably right.

But raptors and nba need to tread very carefully in the event he is found to be innocent

Yeah if there is no evidence he did anything illegal you cant just kick him for the league because you jumped to conclusions before investigating.

That is literally an open and shut case against the NBA.

Also, if rumours are true and he personally made 2 mil a month on bets then I am pulling for him as he used his bubble status to get a real payday. The league is to blame here as usual. As long as they allow betting he will not be the last incident. If he made like 10 mil I am in awe.

I guess we will draft a Centre with one of the picks!
