I hear all of you guys bashing proline for the odds and you are totally right. If i were to bet proline it is a max bet of $10, just for fun, I'd also take even more games than 3 to make the payout higher. If you are going to place a substantial amount of money on sports it should not be on proline for sure.

Let's say you pick a huge favourite to win....say the chances of winning for those teams is 75% each.
since you have to parlay and ALSO cover the spread of 6+ pts (Now i'm being reaaaly generous by that 75% with the 6 pt spread added into the mix).... and your proline odds being 1.40 each (Again i'm being generous, proline usually gives heavy favourites 1.25)...on a $2 bet you're looking at 1.40 x 1.40 x 1.40 = 2.74 * $2 = $5.48 winnings - $2 original bet = $3.48 PROFIT.....

now if you consider the addition of the mandatory parlay your chances of actually winning are 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 = 42% chance of winning $3.48

If you're considering playing proline A) you're either afraid of online sites or B) you're still in high school

I would say dropping the minimum $2.00 on a ticket is more of a high school thing to do. What do you really expect to win off $2.00? It takes money to make money....whether it's pro line or online.

You can have a positive edge against Proline if there are enough "stale" lines hanging ...... meaning they post point spreads for a day or 2 in advance and the line moves online/Vegas but it's locked in on Proline.

The thing is you need
1. a real bankroll .... not your paycheck or cigarette money
2. To look up and learn the definition of "KELLY CRITERION"
3. to have a lot of patience b/c you're going to mostly play 5 or 6 game parlays that even with your edge are only 4-7% likely to occur.

And **** it .... since I'm in such a generous mood I'm going to help a lot of you idiots not lose your ass. Just a word of warning - this is tedious as hell, is annoying as ****, and won't really make you rich. I can't be bothered to do this anymore since it's way too time consuming, but when I was in univ I would pound the hell outta college bball lines and NFL lines with the following method.

1. Start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_criterion

Don't do anything else until you can understand. And you don't need to know higher order differential equations. The math is probably easy enough for some twat in an Arts program to understand.

2. Go here and compare their spreads against your Proline odds sheet: http://www.pinnaclesports.com/League/Basketball/NBA/1/Lines.aspx

3. If you find lines that are much different between the 2 sites, start plugging them into this online calculator:

http://www.sbrforum.com/betting+tools/half+point+calculator.aspx

Extract the Win Probabilities of all the stale lines (hover your mouse over)

4. You need to convert the probabilities of all of the games into a single probability and then compare it to the odds proline is going to pay you.

--- Best to do this by building a spreadsheet ....... it's not hard.

5. Calculate your Kelly stake

6. Curse your life out as you're filling out a bunch of pieces of paper and running to the 7-11 to get your ticket played before tip off.

For this to work you need to have a lot of games available .... if they're only posting odds on the day of the games, there won't be a big enough pool to snap off bad lines.

Chances are if you are diligent enough to do what I told you, you already know how to make money by exploiting an edge and also will move onto something else.

I used $2.00 as an example only lol ... but honestly a word of advice for any beginners getting into betting...you should start out with minimum bets as this will allow you to learn and see how hard sports betting actually is. Once you actually can win consistently, you can play for the big money.

but anyways to illustrate proline vs other sites... although the games for NBA aren't posted as of right now on the proline site, i'll demonstrate it using NHL.... i won't mention the site that i got the numbers from but if you parlay these NHL games (TOR, CGY, VAN to win by 1 goal) your proline payout is = $5.70 ($3.70 profit + $2) ..... if you parlay the same games on a regular betting site your payout is = $8.40 + ($6.40 profit+ $2 orginal wager).

If you scan the available games carefully and are confident that you can locate just two locks, play every other possible combination for the third game, with larger bets on likelier wins. I guess that's the easiest way to describe it. I'm not sure about the science behind it, but if done correctly (and you get the two locks), you'll break even at the minimum. Sure, it requires the two locks and I've seen people lose thousands in a weekend, but I've also seen people make tens of thousands a month, like my father did.

Ya I know I guess something happened? Maybe the NBA and OLG have ran into an obstacle
or still negotiating.

Something is definitely up...

Im not surprised anytime you have the Canadian Government and NBA two of the shadiest
things out there you know something fishy is up.

Lol. I will wait for two weeks when people start complaining that Pro Line is rigged rofl.

Its really hard to bet basketball due to the randomness of an 82 game schedule. There is a lot more money to be made in football.

I've had an addiction to sports gambling since I was eleven years old.

If you have a spare toonie and want to "get way into the game", then sure, get a Pro-Line ticket.

If you want to actually make money gambling, then stay far, far away from anything run by the OLG.

I live with two other guys and we have the Super Sports TV Package, solely to satiate my never-ending appetite for sports wagering. They buy Pro-Line tickets -- I bet online. Over the first seven weeks of the NFL season, I'm up $780 -- and they haven't won once.

Sure, I make much larger wagers than they do. But I'd much rather be betting big and winning often (with the occasional big loss), than placing numerous small bets and never seeing a return.

Goto the casino and watch the game while playing roulette... I would much rather 1:1 odds or even 1:3 odds playing the outside of the board then betting on sports.

you really have no clue what youre talking about

NFL football lines are the most efficient lines in sports simply because theres billions of dollars bet on it every single week

The randomness of an 82 game schedule isnt even close to the variance NFL teams face during a 16 game schedule

it's easier to make money betting NBA, but winning at NBA betting isn't easy in itself

i would say less than 0.5% of the general public win money gambling on NFL football

and if your friends say they do, theyre either lying (almost everyone says they win money gambling which is LOL) or have made <1000 bets in their life which isnt a significant sample at all
