Love him as a backup but he's making starters money. Might be best to just let him expire. BC probably wouldn't be able to get a value trade from any other teams.

We NEED Jose out there as long as we don't have a real SF. Now, if Alan Anderson can be our SF to close out games.....

I wouldn't count on it. Let's be honest here, Anderson is a mediocre player that had one decent game.

Re: Jose Calderon discussion thread
Just saw on Realgm that Lakers will not be looking for a Point Guard with Nash out. Would have been a great opportunity to unload Calderon.
I like his shooting off the bench, but we really need a 3. Would be nice if we could get creative somehow with another team and package him off.

Hey! We're here to discuss Jose not Alan. However, Alan has had more than one good game.
Back on topic... I like Jose even if he makes too much money and doesn't defend well. He can stay as long as he likes.

Re: Jose Calderon discussion thread
The only value that Jose has is his large expiring contract that could be appealing to teams looking for cap space next summer. But technically we don't mind cap space either for next season, and he is a decent back up for this season.

Re: Jose Calderon discussion thread
Call me a hater but I feel he shouldnt get a single minute on the floor unless its a PG with a lack of quickness (Kidd, Blake, Felton etc). When you initially watch the games, he seems to be a productive player for us. He makes shots at a high clip, his PnR with Amir is amazing (I'll give him that), and he seems to try his butt off on the defensive floor. It's only when you re-watch the game you realize how much of a impotent player he is on the defensive end.
You had JJ Barea backing him down in the post, he's always late on the rotation, his lack of lateral quickness always cause the Raptors to constantly send help and forcing a rotations and having his teammates bail him out. And it's not like this happens once or twice a quarter...it happens on every other play. For every good he does on the offensive end, he gives it up on the defensive.

I think it would depend on how the Raps are doing and what's available at the trade deadline, before you can judge whether he's more valuable if you let him expire or if you trade him to someone else who wants to salary dump for an expiring.

Re: Jose Calderon discussion thread
Aside from Bargnani, who actually can play decent man to man defence, Jose is the other major cause of defensive collapses on this team. For that reason alone he should not be getting significant minutes, and never should we ever see the two PG line up.

A part of me actually believes that Jose let him do this because JJ is smaller...
Jose is just too nice of a person/player. It would be best for both parties to separate ASAP.

Am I the only one who believes this has been completely overblown? I see smaller guys posting up bigger guys all the time. Jose actually had a good game that game.
Haters gotta hate I guess.
