This is something I never really thought about. Firing Colangelo... He's brought a lot of respect to the team. The kind of respect we didn't have since VC left. He's the face of the franchise. And you know, it's not like we'd get anyone better.

I say keep him around. But give him a contract extension so he doesn't feel the need to make short term moves. We should blame the suits at MLSE for handcuffing him.

I wouldn't fire him either! We wouldn't find a Gm who would accomplish what he has in his 6 years here....

Yes. I know MLSE wouldn't hire anyone visionary -- probably just some safe retread -- but I've seen enough from Colangelo.

Also, I'm assuming that it was a mistake, but still enjoying that you phrased a pro-firing vote as "yay" rather than "yea". Because the former would be my reaction to that news.

It would be my reaction as well, and it was indeed a mistake.
I must say I'm surprised at the number of people who think he should be fired. I wrongly believed it was just a vocal minority calling for his axing.

I don't want anyone to get fired, but some new blood wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't say that. At the time, hiring BC and Burke were great moves. Their teams were coming off of great seasons and their resumes were great (well, BC's). People seriously thought that BC was changing the game and all that Miles Davis.

...I think that they might actually give the GMs too much autonomy.

Haven't you learned that no matter who he brings in, it will always be his vision. His re-creation of the game to win another version of his championship.....exec of the year.
