They're saying this guys the next big thing after Wiggins and Wiggins is his mentor. All this talent coming out of Canada, gotta be excited. If Raptors want to go far in the NBA, we need to bring these home grown talent to the team so we have guys playing for their country, not just another team. In the next 4-6 years, we will see more Canadians in the lottery!

love it. it'll be interesting to see how he develops over the next couple of years

Definitely, and looks like he has good frame for the NBA already at 16. 6'6, 200 lbs. I can see similar hype to Wiggins, surrounding him in the next year or two.

has any other metropolitan area in north america produced such an increase in blue-chip prospects per 100,000 inhabitants as the GTA in the past 5 years?

i love what's going on with basketball here domestically - i wonder what it is, whether it's an increase in american HS scouting of youths, better basketball facilities/outreach, better development of Under-14s, or whether it's all coincidental.

Blue-Chip
- Tristan Thompson (Brampton)
- Myck Kabongo (Toronto)
- Andrew Nicholson (Mississauga)
- Andrew Wiggins (Toronto)
- Anthony Bennett (Toronto)

Others
- Cory Joseph (Toronto)
- Nik Stauskas (Toronto)
- Dwight Powell (Toronto)
- Kevin Pangos (Toronto)
- Negus Webster-Chan (Toronto)

Milsap is also a decent comparison IMO

AB's way more athletic than Milsap. He actually is very similar in style and stature to a former UNLV legend; Larry Johnson.

Agreed. The Larry Johnson comparison is the best one, but stylistically I do think he is also similar to Paul Millsap.

I think we are seeing the results of having a pro NBA team(albeit a crappy one) in Toronto. The Vince Carter era influenced a lot of kids to play ball.

Steve Nash winning MVP had to help these guys as well, seeing a little white guy from Canada win the MVP twice had to give them the confidence to think, if he can do it why can't I.

Definitely. And then you got the new wave of Canadians that in the league right now (Thompson, Nicholson) and future NBA guys (Bennett, Wiggins, Kabongo, Stauskas etc) will influence another generation of young Canadian kids.

Imagine if Sim Bhullar makes it to the league?

Olynyk is a bit of a late-bloomer. if he keeps it up, do you think he has 2nd-round potential in 2013/2014? he doesn't seem to have a lot of range or rebounding for a 7-footer, but is scoring a lot. never seen him play - just basing it off of his numbers, but he could be a serviceable scoring big off the bench as a #9-12 guy for an NBA team perhaps?

Kelly has range and he can rebound (he's no Reggie Evans though). He just needed to bulk up and he did that this summer.

Here is a highlight video before he went to Gonzaga.

wow, he definitely looks like he can hit the college 3 based on that video - perhaps it's not in Gonzaga's playbook for him to be taking those type of shots, which is probably a good thing for a 7-footer. good to know he has the range though. would love to see how he develops between now and when he ultimately leaves Gonzaga for pro

2nd rounder? He's a 1st round lock next season.

It's a pretty deep draft next season. He's putting up good numbers this year, but would probably need to play even better for a team to select him as a 23-year old senior vs. the other available options.

I know one of you RGMers asked this

Tecumseh (Vancouver)

Who are Gonzaga's Nba Draft Prospects?

Chad Ford (1:42 PM)

Elias Harris, Kelly Olynk, Kevin Pangos and freshman Prezmek Karnowski are all legit second round picks.

dbfeld (manhattan nyc)

G-Robinson III, Trey Burke, Stauskas and TH2: Where do you see Michigan's finest in the draft?

Chad Ford (1:45 PM)

Burke is a clear first rounder. Robinson is probably their second best NBA prospect and one the first round bubble. Hardaway and Stauskas are potential second rounders right now. I really love this Michigan team. No offense to Duke, who has played great all year, but to me the Wolverines are the most talented college basketball team in the country.

I think Bennett's stock will keep rising into the top 3 if he continues to produce big numbers.
