Ross looks promising, but not a sure thing yet, so I am not sure if we want to trade DeRozan right away.
Unless you have a choice where our backup is capable of starting, otherwise, the trade better be an upgrade at another position (SF for example, player in Millsap who can play SF and PF).

Not that I think trading a guy right after he's agreed to extend is a great idea but how about Bargs and Demar for Batum and Matthews. That's a trade that would allow for a lack of a stretch 4 on offense.

Lol at the idea of replacing DeMar with Wes Matthews.

Definitely...not. I rather we trade Andrea and Ross for a competent SF than trading a scoring SG who finally starts to rebound.

But I don't think he has that that "it" factor or mentality of a star player. We already have another SG on the roster, Ross. I think we should look for a deal for a guy like Tyreke Evans, who I think has the talent to be a great player in the league, provides us with a guard who can break down the D and take over games late in the fourth. A guy like Casey can whip him up into shape.

I think Derozan is a keeper for now unless your packing him for a star. So trading him for Tyreke is a no, but a James Harden is a yes (not saying its going to happen).

I'd rather stick wtih Derozan as a project since he's finally giving us results. Why take on another guy whose a risk?

What I like about Derozan is that he his mentality and approach to the game isn't going to change. Hopefully with that, he continues playing like this or at a similar level.

The trade is not Demar for Matthews tho. And Matthews is a good shooter. Batum is a quality young player with more of a track record than Demar who can play the 3 which is a desperate need.

Val. Amir
Ed. Kleiza
Batum Fields
Matthews Ross
Lowry. Jose

That's a better team than now and just as young. Would Portland do it? Probably not. Should The Raptors if possible? Probably not. Don't think this team can trade players right after they make long term commitments.

I like DeRozan's mentality and his work ethic, it's paying off. If he keeps improving like this he'll be an all-star sooner than later. I say we keep him and look to deal Ross in a package that gets us a star caliber player at SF or PF. Build around DeRozan and Lowry. We have a very nice looking back court.

I have a feeling BC passed on his chance to sell high on DD (with Harden).

Whether he did or didn't, I don't see any real opportunities to "sell high." There aren't many players who are right about his level with a better chance at looking even better. Eric Gordon is the only guard who really comes to mind, but I wouldn't want to bet on him staying injury free. Paul George is really the only other name that comes to mind - and that's not really selling high with George continuing to show he's not someone you can count on as a go to scorer.

Is it? If we can get some good return on it, it's worth considering.

That said, it probably isn't a good idea to strip important positional players for gambles, so the talent coming back would have to be really enticing. Tyreke is a gamble.

Would consider Bargnani for Evans though.

I agree. DD reminds me a lot of Bosh. He could very well be great for some rather consistent production, but if trading him helps land a more obvious impact player, it is definitely worth considering. However, I don't see many options out there. Totally happy keeping him and hoping for the best.

DD won't land us a better player unless we add something more

Portland wouldn't trade Batum for DD and Bargs together

I expect DD to keep getting better..there's no point in actively trying to trade him. You do so if the right deal comes along.

Lmfao, it's just absolutely silly. DeRozan playing like a top 5 guy at his position at 23 years old, but NAH MAN. He doesn't have that potential, let's trade him for Tyreke freaking Evans.

I think this is how Colangelo gets away with his front office decisions. As stupid as he is, he's 1000 times as smart as a lot of the posters on this board. I'm sure this guy also thinks Bargnani needs more money and that he is going to blossom into a Dirk-Hakeem Olajuwon hybrid in no time.
