On Wiggins, our only realistic shot is if he demands a trade to our team. We need to ensure we half an appropriate package ready at that time.

Or, he could actually choose to sign here in his prime as a UFA, at age 26-27. Jonas is only 2.5 years older.

Oh, ok.

It will forever go down in Raptor lore that the day Andrew Wiggins became a Toronto Raptor wine was turned into water as the TRUE black Jesus returned to Canada in the form of a basketball player.

Assuming they let BC walk, the chances of an incoming GM tearing it down and building through the draft (ie tanking for Wiggins) have to be reasonably decent, no?

Then again, I wouldn't bet on a team with a second-year Valanciunas tanking, so unless he and others go down, a true tank might be tough.

We have had a history of win now GMs, and the ones that were wanting a rebuild have had the shortest tenures. Tanking for Wiggins is something that won't happen by design.

So are the next 8 years on the Raptors board going to be people dreaming about Wiggins signing here as a FA? If we don't draft him he's not going to be on our team, he won't turn down extra money and longer term to sign in Toronto lol....

if we didn't make the lowry trade and traded bargnani...they we could definitely tank for top 3 2013 and 2014...imagine cody/shabazz/noel, wiggins/parker if we're lucky omg

Of course.

Not saying it's likely, but if there is a chance of one star leaving his team for Toronto (and he would work out a S&T for the $ and years, duh), it could be Wiggins. Expecting him after his rookie deal would be dumb but his 3rd contract could be with anyone.

So I finally watched some of his videos from the last few months.

Is he comparable to young LeBron as an athlete? :o

Seems like he jumps higher especially off two feet, is just as fluid if not more so, has quick feet and good balance, incredible explosiveness, but clearly isn't as strong and probably doesn't have the same end to end speed. But WTF at a 17 year old staring down at the rim with such ease (off two footed jumps too). It's hard to judge without any game footage against legit competition, but to me he looks like he will be in the Dr. J/MJ/LeBron tier as an athlete if he stays healthy.

Lot of guys who are hyped in high school (OJ, DD and the rest) and don't live up to it are overrated because their physical attributes and athleticism aren't elite when they get to the NBA level, I don't see this being a problem for Wiggins at all. Comparing his athleticism to DeMar is a joke.

We have never had an all star except for bosh in the past 8 years. It's time to do something about it.

Wiggins will be a superstar in the states. Don't hold him back in Toronto.

So let me get this straight. You want to lose for 1.5 years for a less than 25 percent chance at best to land Wiggins?

Inn on this, definitely hyped for him but I can bet 99% the nba will **** us out of wiggins. If we don't get wiggins and the team is still **** next year I'm done with the raptors for ever. Same way I stopped watching leafs and argos back in the day.

Could bump that up closer to 40% if we make moves now to get some picks for next year. Even if you don't get Wiggins, getting 2-3 lottery picks will still be huge for this team. But unfortunately, I don't think Raptors have the assets to get mid-lottery/9-10th seed type teams to give up their 2014 unprotected pick.

We should convince Wiggins to refuse to go to any team except the Raptors. Then, to make up for the lost salary, MLSE "buys" Wiggins old PS3 from him for $5 million.

Sounds awesome. I look forward to having a good team by 2017.
