From the wiretap
Andrew Wiggins scored 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and quieted a somewhat hostile crowd in Huntington Prep’s 61-54 win over Walnut Hills on Friday.

Amid taunts of “overrated” and “U-S-A” from the opposing student section, the Canadian scored nine points to ignite a 14-3 run to close the first half.

“That motivates me to play better and that’s what happened,” Wiggins said. “As soon as they started talking, that’s when I started playing better — hitting my shots and everything. Them getting involved was bad for their team.”

Wiggins was the only double-figure scorer for Huntington, which improved to 11-0 on the season.

Yes. That's called a rebuild.

Sounds awesome. I look forward to having a good team by 2017.

It could take even longer. The problem is that the process could have started in earnest years ago. Instead the Raps got quick 'fixes'. The result. Still a bunch of losing and basically nothing to show for it.

Wiggins would be the most ideal outcome of course, but if we miss out on him there is still Jabari Parker.

The sad part is, I don't even know if it's fair to wish this situation on him. The Raps should have had some young guys to go along with him. Had the Raps drafted Drummond, if they had their pick this year, it'd be a different story. As it stands, if he's an instant impact guy, it makes it hard for the team to become elite.

I don't know man, Ross+Val+Wiggins could be special if we continue to build from there.

Anyways as stated if we miss Wiggins theres almost a 50/50 chance we land him or Parker if we bottom out

As opposed to 2025 with the path we're on?

What Val and Ross bring will be much clearer by then, and maybe adding a Wiggins won't be enough in his first year to prevent another high lotto pick, but it really is a shame because the team could have had quite a bit more in place to build and grow with him. Val, Drummond, another high lotto pick this year, plus Wiggins, and you could be talking about a championship contending core.

I almost don't want Wiggins to end up here. If we do likely scenario will be us drafting him, management will completely fail to build anything of significance around him, he (rightfully) leaves, management runs PR magic to paint him as the bad guy and everyone loses.

Maybe I'm too pessimistic

Jabari Parker vs. Andrew Wiggins could be one heck of an NBA rivalry....we must land one of these two guys next season. We have to tank for these guys, or even Andrew Harrison. It'll absolutely suck if we lose our pick next season to OKC, since it's only top 2 protected. I'd rather lose the pick this year, to have a greater chance at drafting Wiggins or Parker in the 2014 NBA Draft, which looks absolutely stacked.

Parker and Wiggins will both battle for championships head-to-head in the primes of their careers.

Don't forget Julius Randle. Wiggins, Jabari and Randle are the studs in the making.

I'm not that high on Randle, if for one reason because he can be a tweener. Not saying he's going to be a bust but I'd rather not deal with the problem of wondering if he's a 3 or 4.

You know if Wiggins thrives on scrutiny, can you imagine what he would be like on the Raptors? 8-)
