I hate Casey as much as the next guy, and not just this year I hated him last year too.. but there is no point in firing him now. Leave that up to the next GM.

Don't fire Casey, I don't like his stuff sometimes but I like the culture he brings despite some guys don't get accountability but its better than a Triano culture. We need to rehire another offensive specialist for the assistant coach, also this is all BC's doing, he's the one that signs lucas, kept Andrea and Jose on the team for so long. If we want Casey to have the right guys on the floor, get BC to send those guys out of town or fire BC and get someone else to reshuffle the roster.

I am also a believer that BC dictates the rotations. Bargnani hasn't been benched since Smitch was here.

Let Dwane Casey coach another year when BC is gone and see if anything changes.

Once BC is fired IMO Casey's rotations will be much better hes is currently being handcuffed by BC to cuddle his son and once we get a new GM with a decent roster Casey will be able to show what he can do..I say give him 1 more year to see what he can do then can him if he still doesn't get it.

According to Grange, Koreen and Holly McKenzie, it was a scheduled Christmas board function at which BC laid out an unofficial state of the team for board members.

This board now looks doubly stupid. A whole day of agitation over a f'k'g Xmas luncheon.

Michael Grange ‏@michaelgrange
Was a case of ownership getting up to speed on state of team after tough start. Not a formal review for Colangelo.

3m Michael Grange ‏@michaelgrange
Talking to several sources, timing of meeting with MLSE board coincided with previously scheduled holiday function.

MLSE Board Meeting Notes

Post#29 » by ForeverTFC » Fri Dec 14, 2012 12:33 am

This deserves a thread .. Holly's note points out that the board meeting was Raptors specific. Pretty big deal if so.

It remains unknown what was discussed, who called it or whether the meeting was pre-scheduled. One team source described it as "a quick update" and that it involved team President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo giving the board a briefing on where the team currently stands.

for the record, of course Derozan is gonna support Casey... Casey actually plays Derozan lol. I wonder what Ed Davis really thinks about Dwane...

Translation: MLSE didn't know wtf is going on with the Raptors because they don't really care. They were going to get an update on the state of the team but they had already planned to do Secret Santa exchange so this Basketball stuff will have to wait.

How do we look stupid for suggesting he might be getting fired? Anyone with a sound-basketball mind knows BC should be gone. If anything the MLSE just proved they don't care how incompetent they look as long as their getting a profit.

It seems that perhaps MLSE does care.

It was a Christmas luncheon where BC gave an informal update on the situation, nothing more.

I wouldn't say so much anticlimactic.

A Raptors specific meeting for the board (which includes the CEO of both Rogers and Bell) is something.

Again, I'm against firing Colangelo right this moment. This implies that the board is looking for develop a plan. That is the best outcome in my opinion. No hasty decisions.

Just saw the other thread. The article made it sound like this was Raptor specific.

Seems like your regular board meeting update. I stand corrected.

fatal9 wrote:There is absolutely no point in firing Casey, even though he makes a lot of amateur mistakes. Why turn your coaching situation into a revolving door when you don't have the talent to get anywhere? Wait to get legitimate talent and then reassess the coaching position. What's the point of hiring a good/proven coach to win meaningless games and get a worse draft pick?

And a lot of principles Casey has are shared by many head coaches around the league (like not trusting rookies to play with the game on the line, or making quick knee-jerk decisions based on bench guy outperforming the starter...seems weird to us because Sam Mitchell did it differently). I saw people yesterday in the game thread were critical of him playing JLIII and not Calderon. Jose played almost 40 minutes. Dude doesn't have a choice but to play garbage players like JLIII...that's what he's been given with this roster by the GM.

Jose played over 40 minutes because he decided to play Jose with JL3 with the two PG back court instead of resting him.

Then, by the time Jose gets back into the game, there is 5 minutes left, Nets well into their run and the game is effectively over.
