If this ever happens, I will permanently advocate getting rid of everyone in that Memphis Grizzlies front office. It's bad enough that they don't know how to scout draft talent.

I bet Mem should love to get Calderon's expiring contract...would be very disappointed if BC does nothing and letting Calderon walking for free.

Dude, the Grizzlies drafted/acquired Speights, Arthur, Selby, Wroten, all of whom are sitting on the bench, & all of whom were highly thought of at one point. You guys also have Pondexter, who whenever I've watched him play, seems like a good young role-playing wing.

I think the Grizzlies have accumulated some nice young talent through the draft - the Xavier Henry pick was a bust, however.

Not to mention Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley, and Kevin Love (even though they were robbed by Minny)

Weren't all those luxury tax rules supposed to help small market teams and even the playing field? We've seen Harden go to Houston and now Memphis is trying to dump their best players. Meanwhile Lakers, Nets, Knicks, etc. still have some of the highest payrolls.

Too many double-doubles. Get rid of him.

Maybe its a smokescreen. Perhaps they want more value for Rudy gay so they are trying to show they arent desperate to trade him exactly. Bottom line this is a team trying to avoid the tax.

The new CBA was meant to hurt teams a few years down the line. Once teams start paying the repeat offenders tax which if I am not mistaken is much higher than the current 1:1 tax you will see teams trying to shed payroll unless they have an unlimited bankroll a la Brooklyn. If you aren't putting up a championship caliber team why pay ridiculous amounts of tax money.

This benefits the small market teams by giving them extra income by not overspending. It's essentially free money.

The lockout wasn't about competitive balance on the court but a competitive balance in the teams bank book.

So whats the plan? getting the scraps from a playoff team so they can continue to rebuild?

They acquired Speights and Pondexter. They did not draft them. Arthur was a good selection, but he has recently been hurt.

Selby and Wroten do not play. Wroten was a terrible selection. Thabeet was one of the worst selections imaginable. Xavier Henry was a bad pick, but he showed some early promise/potential at Kansas, so it is tough to look at that one retrospectively. OJ Mayo trade in exchange for Kevin Love.

Mike Conley and Rudy Gay have been good selections.

On Rudy: Grizz would move but deals not good so far. On ZBo - teams have asked about him. That's it. Not shopping him.

Memphis trades: Gay + Conley + Bayless
Receive: Calderon, Lowry, Dudley, Beasley + Phoenix first

Phoenix trades: Beasley + Dudley + First round pick
Receive: Gay

Toronto trades: Lowry + Jose
Receive: Conley + Bayless

Who would be our starting PG? Machado?

You do know who Mike Conley is right?

ownership is absolutely crazy if they try to trade Zbo, one of the best PF in the league unless they are getting a LeBron/KD/CP3/Melo/Wade/Kobe type player

I rather we trade for Zbo then Gay. That way we don't reproduce what Demar gives you.
