As bad as it feels for us... imagine how the Kings feel. 5th pick in the draft and their 21-year-old PF who was supposed to be NBA-ready has a PER of 11.0. And while I do like Dion Waiters more than most on here, he is 21, was drafted 4th, and was handed the reigns fully but only has a PER of 12.8.

A Cousins/Drummond front court? A Thompson/Drummond/Irving trio?

Consdering they picked 4th and 5th... ending up with Ross at 8... well, it could have been worse.

I hope we re-sign BC, so we can have many more of these **** -ups in the future.

That baseline angle is drool worthy. What would we do without the guys in the truck? Oh wait...

That said, PER is a baby metric and bench bigs always make it look so.

I think everyone realized he had amazing potential on defense (and at worst be something like deandre jordan on offense). But when you take a raw prospect and add questions about his drive/motor, that's what made him fall. Those questions now of course are starting to appear ridiculous, everyone around him in Detroit raves about his work ethic.

Chaos Engine wrote:He wasn't ever a bad kid. He's not a bad teammate or lazy. UCONN was just an utter mess last year and a terrible place for him. The mental makeup BS for Lyin' Bryan never made any sense, and it seemed to me he was just too lazy to actually find out more about AD since he was obsessed with Nash at that time.

Yup, Lamb kind of fell for the same reason ("lazy", "passive", "mental makeup"). He'll be another guy we'll regret passing on imo (along with Sullinger if his back issues aren't serious). The UConn situation last year was terrible for both guys.

I usually prefer and feel that the standard wide shot tells the story best but that second angle is incredible at showcasing just how athletic that play really was.

They are the WORST! Live or never.

Nbatv Gametime didn't even show the baseline view though. I've only seen it on that hypnotic gif. Court cuts, hopefully?

Usually the wide rules, but...

It's true. It makes you appreciate what he did in the air so much more.

1) Consider the timing of all of this happening in a split second. He sees the shot go up and at this point in time he's not just on the other side of the rim... HE'S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BACKBOARD!
2) He's like, "Whatever, I'm still going to go get that one."
3) He tucks his head a little so that he doesn't hit it against the backboard.
4) Turns mid-air and still somehow seems to be rising up higher and higher.
5) Catches it with one hand and dunks it cleanly.
6) He's still flying at incredible speed with his back fully exposed, and heading backward, and yet lands perfectly.

All that in a second. Incredible. It's not just the kid's leaping ability that's impressive; it's his body control and coordination.

PER is for pansies.

Looks at Drummond's 3 point percentage. :droop:

You'll have to think a little harder to mock these ones because the standard jokes about 3-point % and ft% don't work since Ross is only shooting 32% from 3 and 57% on fts. Maybe something about Drummond being too tall so it just wouldn't have been fair to have both him and Aaron Gray on the same team.

still don't understand why those of you are crowing about Toronto's missed opportunity.
Sac-town drafted Robinson instead of Drummond. they were looking for a big man. so didn't they err more than Toronto did when we already had our centre of the future on board?

Don't mind me. I was one of the guys that passed out when I found out BC passed on Drummond. I think the fall caused more brain damage than I have already accrued over the years combined.

Every time this guy has a good game or gets a nice dunk, kids like him get raging boners for him while completely ignoring all the other games where he was utterly useless. Some people here actually consider him "untradeable."

The fact this scrub can't even get enough playing time with this pathetic wing corp is pretty sad and depressing considering he was suppose to be one of the most NBA ready player.

Fair enough but I also think it has a lot to do with the fact that many of the Raptors fans on here are like this in real life...

What does that have to do with us? What's important is that WE screwed up.

Return to Toronto Raptors
