All Bargs has to do is play hard. Grab some tough boards, block a shot or two, and he can get the fans to cheer him. It's sad that we all know he wont even do that

They paid their hard-earned f'k'n'g cash, please don't use that cliche, half of the douches in the building are watching porn all day while stealing time from their employers. Whenever I hear this, I wonder how much effort YOU are giving at your job.

Cut out the sanctimonious BS.

If you want your team to win, you lift them, you don't on them. You are the sixth man they all need. YOU. So why not show a little g-d effort and support tyhem.

Not saying booing or not booing is right but you **** on the fans and tell them to support the team, and those guys would just respond with the player should do the same while on the court too.

That to me is the severe divide that has fans **** on him now. Production aside, it's his effort that just has gotten to the point fans simply can't accept him on the court anymore.

I see your arguement, but it's too negative an environment now. No good will come out of it.

It's home court for a reason and our purpose as Raptors fans is to cheer the team on, energize the players, make them feel they have the crowd behind them, and have support, by boo-ing the player even when he makes a mistake/lack of effort (and Im pretty sure its not a lack of trying; this completes an opposite effect.
Look at Boston and OKC. Countless times I've seen the road team make a huge run, close in on them and even take a lead; do they boo because theymade mistakes (ie, missed assignments, didnt close out)? No, they cheer their team even harder and becomes an enigma which usually propels the home team to make another push and seal the game.
At the ACC; rarely would I see crowds actually cheering on the team when they're down, propelling them to go forward, when we're down Raptors fans have a tendency to surpress them further which is a depressing sight to see.

I think people are confusing the fans cheering their team on vs. booing this particular player though.

First, the boos won't help him, you are correct. Is cheering him when he misses an open shot gonna change anything?

You don't see fans booing Amir when he misses a rotation or goes to double leaving Amare open for an easy dunk. This is specifically targetted at one player on the team. And there are a variety of reasons for this, whether you agree or not.

It's not like fans are booing the entire team. In fact, go back and watch the games since mid-december and the crowds have been ultra supportive of this team overall.

As to the crowd not cheering on the team when they're down to help propel the team, or fans staying engaged or what not. Even tonight, fans sitting at the end as Jack pointed out whereas in other cities, same situation and everyone standing, we simply don't have a long history of winning to even establish that kind of behaviour.

We all know what it should look like watching other winning franchises, but we haven't been that to establish that atmosphere here even if we all want it.

Did you ever think that after 6 seasons of indifferent play while the fans pretty much left him alone that a strong chorus of boos from the home crowd might be exactly what he needs to start playing hard? Everyone gets there motivation from a different source.

I honestly don't think anything can be done for this guy to start giving a consistent effort but I do know that 'leaving him alone' has clearly not worked all these years.

Thanks.

Yeah, but who cares about Bargnani. This is a TEAM sport. Put your personal feelings aside & don't make it a damn distraction.

He's not going to be here by summer's end anyhow.

Boo the damn guy when he comes back in another uniform if you feel that strongly about him.

Booing him while he's on the team is much more effective and it gets the point across.

Haven't you heard players rave about how the home court support matters, how you want to scare the visitors shiatless? Well, how scared is the visiting team when your loudest boos are for your own guy.

As someone said earlier today, a lot of fans WANT Bargnani to fail so they can boo him like some prophesy they need fulfilled. That's the difference between Toronto and a real sports town. The team has won six of the past seven, has a pretty good chance to win the next three, and the fans won't get behind their players.

But you keep moaning about all the years of losing despite the fact the team is turning things around and yet many of you want to fight yesterday's battle.

The Raptors need you to fight today's battle. There is at least a hail Mary's chance of making the playoffs, like the late rush of 2002-03, and many of you would rather engage in team-destructive behaviour.

That's why this is a city of losers. Mike Murphy says, "Hello losers!"

Post of the year. Well said Dagger.

This is also a factor. I have a feeling that his teammates could CARE LESS about the booing. They're probably all thinking 'about god damn time'.

Okay, you are entitled to your "feelings" and assumptions, but there is absolutely little to no evidence that back your point up unless you want to extrapolate tidbits of nothing.

Exactly why I said 'I have a feeling' and 'they're probably'.

Did I say 'I know' or 'definitely" anywhere?

I'm sorry, am I being paid 10 million dollars a year? Think about it, 10 million dollars. He could retire tomorrow, at the age of 27 and never have to worry about anything ever again.

Effort is mandatory.

Your reasoning is unbelievable funny and does not make any sense.

There is no corelation between money and effort, and nor there should be. It's crazy to think that one should only put out effort if they are making tons of money. Effort should always be there, no matter what you do.

Go watch "A Bronx Tale" and DeNiro rant on "wasted talent" On a side note, it's an amazing movie.

Let him publicly ask for a trade. Let him waive his last year option which he does not deserve. He's been coasting for 7 years. He had every chance to win the fans, to improve, play hard and we have been very patient. I would stick my neck out and say no other NBA player in history had as many chances as he did.

He has not driven to the basket not once since we got back from the break has not posted up not once, stinker after stinker and he gets paid a cool $10M for it.

The fans booing (helpful or not) is understandable, do not blame the fans for the day light clear outcome here, we all saw this coming, the booing did not start a few games ago. Blame BC for not trading him.

Seriously.

For the longest time I was a Bargnani apologist. I was willing to put up with his garbage, because of his obvious potential. But after 6-7 years in the league, what you see is what you get.

There is no potential future benefit.

+1 Duff

dagger always tries to exalt himself but if anything he's the one who needs to cut out the self-righteous bs....the fans have every right to boo. We're not talking about 7 games of bad play...we're talking about 7 YEARS. The fans have supported Bargnani for 7 years; I don't care if you're talking bball or everyday life. If someone doesn't give effort or TRIES to give back into the relationship what the other wants it either ends (as everyone wants) or it gets ugly and right now it's ugly and it should be. This primadonna has coasted by for years and the city has had enough...we've supported this loser time and time again (as is the case with most bad relationships) but eventually you give up and stop caring because they never made the effort from THEIR end and the same goes with Bargnani -- ball is in his damn court, step the f up or gtfo; at this point that's where everyone stands.

You are missing his point. Read it again.

I've seen examples of it (i.e. workers disengaged, not working at the best of their abilities) in the corporate world many times. People are doing jack @$@% and getting paid well by the company. With the type of players we have on our 2nd unit... it actually makes more sense to play ACY. If Bargs' is not getting touches and not presenting himself in order to receive touches... It's more useful to play Acy.

Bargs needs to learn to do other things on the floor. The way he's being utilized, he must or the booeing will continue.

Unfortunate, those things aren't his strengths.
Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!
