I like the attempt at symmetry in the logo. The Raptor face is tough to do (unlike the Grizz which I'd like to see imitated to some degree). I would like to see an attempt to do a symmetrical design based around the Maple leaf/basketball shape (I saw someone use it for a Husky design) but using both claws to form the lateral palms of the leaf with the toothsome maw at the tip. Haven't seen a good design in this form yet, and it might benefit from a slightly turned head, but I think it's a no-brainer. I think this form would allow for a simple, symmetrical, stylized design that incorporates the maple leaf in subtle fashion.

Thanks for the feedback everyone (good and bad). Can't tell you guys how much I appreciate it - as a young graphic designer any feedback I can get is great for me. I faced a bit of a challenge with the symmetry of the face, as well as how to add depth for the snout as to not make it look flat. I can see how it looks like Voldemort (and Red Ranger) to some people so i'll try to fix that for the redesign. I'm glad everyone likes the skyline idea, it was a risk and I'm not entirely sure I executed it the way I wanted to but thanks for the people who are fans of that. We have a beautiul and recognizable skyline, its time we show it off to the world lol

Love the skyline in the mouth. But the dinosaur itself looks like an alien or a piranha to me.

Skyline idea is cool, but it looks childish to me, especially when I see the centre court logo.

As a concept I really like the idea and how you've linked it all back to the original logo. It just needs several re-draws to really get the look right. I've tried in the past to incorporate the skyline into raptors logo sketches and could never get it to work but your implementation has a chance. good stuff.

I'm sorry man, it seems like you worked hard but this logo is all kinds of funny! The cityscape in the mouth is nuts, the bags under the eyes are hilarious, the face itself looks like a crack addict. My God, are you a comedian or is this real??

Clever idea with the skyline, but the first thing people will think when seeing that logo is that it's a maniacal killer-alien.

This definitely has some potential. I quickly added a couple features that I think makes it look a bit better:



I think the pupils are needed and the long Raptor snout needs to be defined.

Other changes that may help are:

-head shape (right now it's too round, needs to be more dynamic in shape
-teeth would look better not as perfect triangles but more realistic rounded teeth
-another idea to try is to use more black vectoring to create more shadow effect in the face

I do really like the skyline idea for the bottom teeth

Agreed.

I don't like the skyline as teeth. It looks like it's about to choke on a toothpick. Plus, what do you mean by digested and cluttered? Those words have zero cohesiveness.

As others have said the skyline really looks great. not a fan of the dino (looks like an alien) but your on the right path.

Keep it up. A few re draws and you might nail it on the head.

Raptors (Dromaeosaurs)

A Vicious Killer

Velociraptor, move over! Dromaeosaurus was a vicious, medium-sized hunter that had a mouth full of serrated, razor-sharp teeth and a sharp, hooked claw on each foot that it used to clamp down on its victims. It was about the size of a large dog or wolf, about six to nine feet (two to three meters) long. Its jaws were long and solidly built for its size, and its neck was curved and flexible. It may have been able to smell its prey, and it probably possessed a good sense of hearing. Its tail was sheathed in a lattice of bony rods but was flexible at the base, allowing it to be carried in a sharply upturned, aerial-like position. Its remarkably large eyes gave it excellent vision. Its vicious sickle-like claws, although shorter than those of other dromaeosaurs, still gave it a distinct advantage over most of its prey.

I really want us to keep the name Raptors...but that logo needs to be tweaked it kinda looks like Sam Cassell
