I guess it's hard to come off the bench when you've been a starter all your life. DS9 looked pretty sloppy, too. I really don't understand why Harden starts ahead of DeRozan. Harden was getting torched for 3 quarters. :noway:

Wow Harden isn't even a pylon or an obstacle. Dude is straight up air.

I don't like the 2 PG/1 SG that team USA is starting with. It doesn't seem to be helping and you can tell by today's game against Turkey. Harden is lost on defense and Curry at the 2 isn't working. They should be 1 PG and 2 SG's starting or a traditional 1 PG/1 SG/1 SF.

Personally, they should start either Irving (most likely) or Curry at the point, Harden at the 2, and either Thompson or Gay (doubt DeRozan gets the nod right now, he's on the reserve list) at the 3. Also, Rose looked really bad today, along with Gay. Still, they should look to switch up the starters.

Cousins doesn't understand that Asik is stronger, bigger, and more mobile than him.

I still can't believe USA was rolling with a PG/SG/SF combo of Irving/Curry/Harden
The defensive instincts of all of them combined is still a minus overall

This is reminiscent of that Carlos Boozer, Amare, Richard Jefferson squad the US threw out there a while back and they lost. Euro squads just kept playing zone defense and forcing them to shoot jumpers (particularly Jefferson who clanked repeatedly on long 2's and 3's from the corners). Obviously this squad is more talented than that one, but I'm interested to see how they adapt to continuous zone coverage because I think teams are going to throw that at them after that first half.

Sadly, groups C and D is a joke. It is a walk in the park until the Finals for USA. People who say USA will fight for the bronze, who exactly beats them in the Semis, Slovenia, Lithuania? Not happening.

It's set up in a way where USA would meet Spain in the Finals.

That's what you get when you play dirty like the Philippines did in that game.

Happened several times from them with the worst coming from Tenorio towards the end and their coach applauding. Zero respect.

If the US wins it makes it easier for Canada to make it into future tourneys (Worlds, Okympics)

It's true. Even still it's going to be tough given our lack of success and experience at the international level. Really 2020 is where we might have a chance to make some noise.
