Argentina aren't beating Brazil. No Ginobilli, no Delfino.. Can't see France going too deep either without Parker and De Colo.
I have Spain winning the whole thing with the US, Brazil, and Lithuania all having the next best showings.

Puerto Rico are also considerably better than the Philippines.
Finland and the Ukraine could make some noise.

Yeah, only made it because of size and Duke bias. He really shouldn't be seeing playing time on the court.

He's right-handed, no? Why is this guy cutting his food for him? I wish him a speedy recovery. I'd like to see him in a TOR uniform again.
He's having steak bro. Unless he just picks it up and starts chewing on it, eating a steak with one hand would be very cumbersome. Too bad they couldn't have a female trainer do the feeding, I'm sure my boy Nando would concur.

I know their men are short, but with sport being that popular + having such big population, you would think they could develop some talented guards at least. How f-ed up is their program?
Exactly. 100 million people in a basketball mad country and you can't produce a single NBA player? Constantly lose to countries where basketball is far from popular.

Brazil has some names but I don't expect much from them at the World Cup.

The OP needs to add Juan Carlos Navarro, Rudy Fernandez, and Sergio Rodriguez to the list for Spain. All 3 are pretty big European players.
Also, why isn't Ricky Rubio on the list?

Re: FIBA World Cup - Spain 2014 - Aug 30th to Sept 14th
Spain's roster:
4. Pau Gasol
5. Rudy Fernandez
6. Sergio Rodriguez
7. Juan Carlos Navarro
8. Jose Calderon
9. Felipe Reyes
10. Victor Claver
11. Ricky Rubio
12. Sergio Lull
13. Marc Gasol
14. Serge Ibaka
15. Alex Abrines
A core of Pau, Marc, Ibaka, Navarro, Rubio, Calderon, Fernandez, and Reyes is certainly capable of beating a US team who's core players are Anthony Davis, Kenneth Faried, James Harden, Steph Curry, Derrick Rose and Kyrie Irving.
You couple the natural height advantage and chemistry of a true team in Spain vs a team that has a number of question marks defensively and hasn't shown that much in the halfcourt, and you have a recipe where the Americans are very vulnerable imho. Doesn't mean they'll lose but I like that matchup if I'm Spain.

Haven't updated the OP since I originally created it, before the line-ups were announced

Ibaka Rubio connection

Also, do not underestimate Sergio Rodriguez. He was mad good this past season, one of the best non NBA players in the world easily.

If Colangelo/Coach K is the reason Pop is not coaching, why dont they move on from them transition to Pop as a retirement plan post-Spurs?
I mean really, its a shame they chose Plumlee, with all the guys in the NBA deserving, and would jump at the chance. Again aside from Dukie affiliations, and his easily explained high TS% last year (alot within the restricted area, alot of ASTd on buckets), there is no explanation, not even Nets fans can justify it other than dont question the USAB staff.
