If you read "David and Goliath" (Gladwell), there's an interesting chapter about Vivek and his observations and acting based on them for great results. That said, in person, he's certainly enthusiastic, shall we say, and hands on. Why have a GM? The guy doesn't seem sure of any decision (maybe a by-product of it being his first gig, or the owner stepping on toes, frankly - it's never an equal power structure when the guy who owns it all and signs the cheques is in the room, no matter how much of a bball fan and buddy he is).

Really looking for decisions from the outside rather than knowing which way he'll go - came across like he really needed those crowd sourcing guys.
GM: I think they'll take Parker
-Should we move up for Embiid?

GM: Should we take 10 for 8 and 2 seconds?
Vivek: No, I wouldn't do that
GM: I told them no.

Re. The owner being the one making the decision... At the beginning of the video on the white board he has "Gordon, Stauskas" written on the white board and underneath has "Stand Pat" written down, likely meaning that those were the two guys they were going to pick if they stayed at their position. My guess is that they knew they were picking Stauskas since they had him work out for them and then basically told the owner as much, and then the owner got himself hyped up on the pick.

LOLLL It's funny to see how excited they were during the draft, then he's traded for a bag of peanuts one year later. That's the life of an NBAer. Sucks, but they're making millions, so they can't complain.
