Yup. If they can figure out defence it should be easily better then what he had in Miami the last two years. Lebron can't be the defensive anchor he used to be, and he doesn't have the Wade of 4 years ago blocking/challenging shots at the basket against big men. So, it's a big if.

Marion isn't an offernsive player anymore and isn't the lockdown defender he was. He would have worked in Toronto instead of JJ but he isn't that great. Mavs were going to let him walk before they signed Parsons.

Yeah but we're talking bench talent here. Who in Miami's bench was as good as Shawn Marion was last year? Their bench was pathetic and it showed against the Spurs.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

And here’s a note that’s a little alarming: The Mavericks were better both offensively and defensively with Marion off the floor each of the last four seasons (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14). When it came to on- vs. off-court numbers, Marion was in a tough spot as Dirk Nowitzki‘s backup. But the lack of impact on defensive numbers, in particular, should provide caution for anyone expecting him to be the stopper that he was earlier in his career. - NBA Hang time

Clear cut favorites in the East.

They have Lebron and Love are in their prime, and a third allstar at PG with Irving. Not to mention if they sign Allen their depth is just about better than what Lebron had in Miami during his championships years.

Question is can this team beat the Spurs/OKC/Clippers?

Cavs have a bench featuring Marion/Miller/Thompson and possibly Ray Allen...talk about stacked.

Marion sucks. Cleveland's just getting more hasbeens to help out LeBron.

the heats 4-6 and beyond after big 3 were always weak...the cavs have tristan/varejao/waiters, two solid 10 and 10 bigs and a decent young scoring guard...add in miller, marion, jones, and probably ray...man who needs to build teams when people just flock to u, they looking scary

Offense is looking good, I still question the other side though, D is oh so important.

Blatt should consider putting Waiters in a Ginobili role and bring him off the bench, but still get him ~30 minutes per game. Otherwise he's going to get lost and frustrated as part of the starting unit.

If LBJ has a injury that takes him out for 20 games this team would self destruct with Irving, Waiters and Love all wanting the ball. Varejao isn't a real C more like Horrford but not as good. If LBJ stays healthy as he has always done the are the best in the East but are they best in the playoffs.

Ray allen would need to start if he came (still only play 20-25 mins though)

Sideshow/Thompson
Love/Marion
LeBron/Miller
Irving/Scrub
Shuttlesworth/Waiters

Best 1-10 lineup in a long ass time in the NBA

ldnk wrote:The only big question is just how they handle ball control. LeBron was basically the PG in Miami. How does he react to being the 1st option but not controlling all of the play? Does Kyrie take a step back to let him run the show, or does LeBron do it. I think it's going to take them a while to gel because that's a pretty large component of their game. And who knows how well Love will respond to arguably being the 3rd option. Bosh accepted that role in Miami, I'm not sure that Love will be as keen to see his stats dropped given that there are already people who diminish the value of his stats because he doesn't play on a winner.

I don't see the problem.

Kyrie always needed to play off ball more so Lebron will run the offense sometimes with Kyrie off ball and Love playing S4 lining up for 3s, and sometimes Kyrie will run the offense and they will let LeBron play off ball and rest a little. I don't think Love will have a problem rebounding his ass off, throwing outlet passes and nailing 3s.

As for that final roster, I still expect more moving. I don't think they will keep Waiters.

Its going to look more like this.

Irving / Dellavedova / Lucas
Miller / Ray Allen / J. Jones
LeBron/ Marion
Love / Thompson
Varejao / Haywood

Plus whatever they get in a Waiter trade and adding a center.
