I just want to say that the presentation is miles ahead of 2k. The halftime show looked amazing, can't believe 2k doesn't have a halftime show. The stadiums in Live look so much better than 2k, the acc looks on point. Gameplay looks good but I need the controller in my hand to make a full judgement.

If I go back and quote you on everything you've written in this thread, it's nothing but 2K praise and Live bashing. Try being less of a homer and actually appreciate that we now have some real competition.

I want both 2K and Live to do well. It's about time I have the option to buy 2 good basketball games on a yearly basis. Hopefully 2K finally gets a wakeup call and Live continues to improve and stay hungry.

Will try the demo on PS4 but I'd be surprised if it can pull me away from 2K.

I started off a Live player since NBA Live 2001 to 2004 on PS2, but after that it was no contest. There would have to be big changes that change the entire game to have it compete with 2K from the last several years.

Im playing the early trial right now and this game has exceeded all my expectations. It's really good. You guys are in for a surprise when/if you play the demo. The twitch video doesn't do the graphics justice.

My only suggestions would be don't play this game like 2K. I did and I lost by 14pts on pro difficulty. Also turn up the difficulty settings and adjust the foul sliders. Make sure you turn on Automotion (player movement).

I've only played the practice gym and a 5 vs 5 game with OKC and Cleveland so i'll post further impressions tomorrow.

Live commentary, courts, and arenas mixed with 2K's player models, animations, and gameplay, you would have the GOAT basketball game

Impressive. It exceeded my expectations by a lot and looks way better than Live 14... gameplay is smooth, player movement fluid, spacing is great, the arena, lighting, courts, and the crowd is great and better than 2k, the defense beats are perfect as they have the right beats in the right arenas and they sound on point and not bootleg like 2k, jerseys are terrible, the buzzer sounds are all the same in every arena, gameplay has just some awkward movement but the game has definitely improved.

Still going to get 2k15 this year but i'll most definitely buy NBA Live 16

Impressions

Pros

Atmosphere is fantastic. Crowd, PA Announcer, Arena Sounds are all on point
Gameplay is fun, smooth and responsive
Graphics are on another level this year. Videos don't do it justice.
Presentation is excellent
Spacing is great.
Controls are simple but challenging
Game is a mix of arcade and sim
Emphasis on a Physics rag doll system over animations
Ton of contact in the paint. Contact feels organic and natural.
You cannot foul a jumpshooter or you'll get called for it. You also have to give him space to land.
Home court advantage matters. You're at a disadvantage as the road team.
Signature dribbles and dunks look good
Defense is significantly improved
Hop step/Euro step cheese is gone
The half time/post game show is excellent
Rebounding is on point
Dynasty, Rising Star and Ultimate Team are much improved
Game isn't a dunk fest
Fast breaks are run realistically and smoothly
Foul sliders work this year
Tons of coach options on defense and offense
Shot feedback and indicator have been added
Practice gym has been added with personal drills from Damian Lillard
Pick and Roll game is miles ahead of 2K
Soundtrack is also way better than 2K
Game has the fun factor 2K has been missing for a few years.
Net physics are right on the mark
Online servers are stable and head to head games are fun. You can play defense.

Cons

Too easy to score at times
Too many contact layups go in
Commentary is improved but still needs some work
Animations are improved but still a work in progress
Jalen Rose sounds robotic in the half time/post game show
Lack of game modes compared to 2K
Lack of off ball movement from the CPU at times
Player movement is robotic
Half court offense needs more variety from the CPU
CPU has a habit of going into isolation at times
No online leagues or associations
Some players make unrealistic dunks
Late game AI is suspect
Physics system is good but inconsistent
Lack of post moves
Rim physics need to be improved
Lack of sliders besides fouling ones.

Overall Rating

Graphics - 8/10: Huge leap from NBA Live 14. Next gen graphics and some of the detail is amazing

Gameplay - 7.5/10: Game is fun, smooth and responsive but still a work in progress

Game Modes - 7/10: Game modes are simple and fun but limited number of them compared to 2K

Online - 8/10: Servers are lag free and stable. No input delay online. Defense matter. My only criticism is that the difficulty is set to all star. They need to increase it to superstar and increase the foul sliders.

Presentation - 10/10: NBA Live's presentation has always been unrivaled

Overall - 7.5/10: 2K is still better but it's safe to say that Live is back. Really good game. Huge step in the right direction. Next year should be a good year for bball fans.

Don't judge the graphics off the video. J Will was right when he said I shouldn't judge 2K's graphics off of youtube. I saw 2K15 in person and it looked much better than the videos. If you end up downloading the demo for Live, I guarantee you, you'll be impressed by the graphics.

The player movement looks robotic and not smooth at all. I think the last NBA Live game I played was Live 08. Since then it's been 2K. I finished playing 2K at my friends house. Now I haven't played a 2K game since 2K13, but it does take some getting use too. The player movement is so smooth and seamless.

So based off your Rating Scarface presentation is the only really great thing about it? Honestly Presentation is the least important thing in an NBA game
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I dont know how you got that off my impressions/review. Two ratings are 8+ and one is 9+. Live is more fun than 2K. I'm enjoying Live 15 much more than I have any 2K game the past 3-4 years.

I prefer being unbiased though. Just because I'm enjoying it more and prefer it to 2K, doesn't mean i'm gonna be a homer and give it a 9/10 in every area, you feel me? Try the demo/full game trial Tuesday and see for yourself how good/bad the game is and whether or not presentation really matters.

To put it in perspective here are my ratings for 2K.

Graphics - 8.5/10
Gameplay - 8/10
Game Modes - 10/10
Online - 4/10
Presentation - 7/10
Overall - 7.3/10

Only reason the overall is so low is because of the terrible servers. Not including online, the overall ratings average out to 8.2/10

nah man, it's for everyone, since if the game is functional, and takes some sale away from 2k series, it will force 2k guys off the couch and make the next iteration marginally better.

I guess to me Gameplay and Game Modes trump the other 3.. online is boring IMO and Presentation is overrated and fits more Into "graphics". At least the games have different strengths to appeal to different audiences. (Me and you for example)

Put it in perspective though. I rated 2K15's gameplay an 8. I gave Live 15's gameplay 7.5 so it's not like I see 2K being way ahead in the gameplay department. What 2K is ahead in however, are game modes and again, Live is just getting back on track. 2K has had years to develop its game modes.

You put it perfectly, each game has different strengths to appeal to different audiences which goes into my next comment. Live is not 2K. It plays nothing like 2K.

Both franchises have always been completely different from each other. If people are going into Live expecting a different version of 2K, they’re going to be disappointed.
