Who will suffer from our bench depth
Of all the great new acquisitions we got this off-season, who do you guys think will suffer from our bench depth.
What this means basically is who will not get sufficient enough minutes to showcase their talent and help the team.

Getting James Johnson means Demar won't need to play backup SF. Leaving SG open for Vasquez.
Getting Lou-Will means Vasquez will compete with him for pg and sg minutes.
So Vasquez or Lou-Will

Re: Who will suffer from our bench depth
It's pretty easy to see the 3 guys on that list who are going to get burned for minutes, particularly Hansbrough when you consider how much depth we have at PF (he'll still be a matchup based bench asset for the most part - or if foul trouble/injury strikes). Fields will see sparring minutes as a defensive presence, but he's far less needed with James Johnson in tow.

Lou will can put up stat lines in limited min and he's a great bench scorer, management will likely try to justify the contract given out to Vasquez, so I can't see him not being a significant piece of the team this year/moving forward. Johnson has the ability to slide in at the 4 if we play a small ball lineup with Amir/Pat at C (which will be a possibility this year with our lack of depth at C).

Re: Who will suffer from our bench depth
Raptors have the best depth of any team in basketball especially if Fields and Hayes are bought out.
All positions are 3 to 4 deep plus our size problem has been alleviated with JJ & Stiemsma.
Plus think we are likely the toughest team with Lowry, JJ, Hansbrough , Jonas and Stiemsma no one can push this team around.

Yeah Vasquez will still be important for us, but Vasquez could be dissapointed about the situation, due to him wanting to start. Or it could work out perfectly,we have to see. Having Lou hopefully helps with lowering Vasquez's market when he's a FA, so it should be easier to retain him.

Sigh, Bruno, he will get zero minutes.
Amir/Patman combo and Stiemsma will push Hansbrough out of the lineup.

I could see Ross getting fewer minutes if his inconsistency keeps up. Too many good options (Vasquez, Lou, JJ) off the bench to justify letting him play through struggles.

Re: Who will suffer from our bench depth
I think putting Hansbrough in this poll is flawed.
Hansbrough won't suffer because he knows his job ... when we need someone to scrap and throw their weight around Casey will throw him in before any of our other bigs. And I think thats fine with Hansbrough because he's a solid pro.
I chose Landry because he's the lowest on the pecking order...he's behind DD, TR, GV, LW and JJ. Yeah he's making his fat salary but at his young age where he needs to get playing time so that people know what he can do is going to hurt him as a player in the long run.
Bruno is also a flawed choice. He's 2 years away from being 2 years away so he already knows he's not going to see any floor time lol.

Re: Who will suffer from our bench depth
Bruno and Fields obviously get 0 mins each. But that is expected.
I think Vasquez wil have nights where he isn't playing much especially when Lowry and DD are needed on the floor in close games and with the addition of Lou it will be a battle.
But I voted Tyler Hansbrough since I think he will have a hard time playing 5 or more minutes per game with the added possibility that James Johnson will be able to guard the PF position.

Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

Who will suffer from our bench depth? That's easy: our opponents.

But that's his downside.
No thats his backside.
Lowry's upside is mental and psychological.

Assuming he is still on the roster by opening day, I picked Hansbrough.

They're different players. Lou is a much more gifted scorer and GV a much better passer.
GV was just handed the bench scorer role so we didn't see him much as a playmaker. Now that role is Lou's, so GV can focus on distributing. It can work if Casey goes away from the Lowry/GV combo in favour of Lowry/Lou and GV/Demar.

2nd units around the league.

I'm kinda worried about Vas/Lou having to compete for minutes and as a result, not being happy with their role.

Re: Who will suffer from our bench depth
Landry Fields.
He hardly had any play time last year, and with much added depth on the 3 spot, I'd be surprised to see him get any minutes at all. Realistically, I see Bruno getting all of Fields play time because Bruno actually has a future with this team and would be part of his development and reasoning to why he isn't enrolled in the D-League.
Landry Fields is getting paid millions to watch basketball games with courtside seats lol
