Haters gonna hate. That being said last years PS4 release was horrific. This year seems leaps and bounds better and apparently tons of effort has gone into the online infrastructure.

This is said every year. "Last years version was pretty bad but this year seems significantly improved and 2K seems to have listened to us finally". "online has been improved" etc. etc. 3 weeks later, the problems start propping up. This year will be no different.

People have the game now. Go check OS, a couple members have the game and are already giving there feedback. Regardless, why should I have to buy a game based off of what other people say? A demo allows me to try the game on my own but 2K isn't releasing one. I ain't hating. I'm just not buying into the kool aid and blindly following them.

I think 2K10 onwards the game got very easy...I think 2k13 in particular became really easy.
I play HoF against the CPU and it's 20pt blowouts nightly.

Nevertheless, they need to bring back the JORDAN challenges! I hate this whole online/social-media/VC focus.
Also, they really need to expand their retro teams...

Actually I know for a fact it will not have the same shortcomings as last year simply by reading a features list. So I don't know what to tell you except go ahead and skip the game

If I don't end up liking the Live demo, I may go with no basketball game for the first time in years. It isn't about Live. It's about 2K's issues. I would like to buy both games ideally.

I originally planned on getting both games but from the impressions and videos that have come out since that time, it's not worth getting a roster update and slight animation improvements. Again I could care less about game modes. I'm a online guy.

All the sports game have had their engines built years ago and the developers are scared to make major
changes to it. So every year you will only see minor upgrades graphically and gameplay wise.

Even going to a new generation of consoles this is evident either the new consoles aren't that powerful
as advertised or the developers are having a hard time adapting to the new technology.

Big fan of blacktop/park so this looks solid but 2 issues. The main issue are the servers. If the servers don't work all this is pointless. 2nd, why should I have to wait 15 minutes to play a game of pickup?

With the new 5 vs 5 on basketball courts with referees, that's a 30 minute game I have to wait for. Why would I wait so long just to play a game? Dumb feature, if they could remove the waiting part, it'd be great.

Spacing and court awareness is definitely better this year.

Da Czars video about free flowing offenses and adaptive AI is impressive as well.

I've seen the free flowing offense and again I see stuff like that every year. The AI is pretty dumb not just in 2K but EA and the majority of games so I take those types of videos with a grain of salt. MyPark stuff is looking good though.

Spacing looks as bad as ever. 2K will never get spacing right because they don't know how to make the courts look authentic. For some reason Live does.

This is good news. Loved those Czar videos. Exactly the type of things I want to see from 2K. Showing actual necessary gameplay improvement.

However, I still think something's off with either the court width (too narrow) or the player sizes (too large). Probably a bit of both. Here's an album where the court is about the same width as in the 2K clips. Notice how little space the players actually take up on the court. I have some more reference pics which I'll upload later.

One thing is pretty clear though - AI player movement on defense is still a huge issue. In the first clip, watch Boozer come to soft hedge on the P&R. He goes into hyper-speed mode to get into proper position after being too far back. Then watch Lin close out on Rose. He too has a hyper-speed jump that moves him closer. This is possibly one of the issues that makes the spacing seem off - the AI speeding up players to close defensive gaps - and needs to be looked at in depth. For what it's worth, gif #5 of the article is great. Just terrific. Perfect spacing. Just the pass was executed oddly, which could easily be user error.

Edit: I know the rest of the clips are sped up for whatever reason, but the first one isn't.

Well...considering the video compares it directly with 2k14 in the same situations and it's completely different, it looks like a pretty significant improvement.

Keyword: "looks"

2K is great at marketing and hyping people up. Lets see if it actually translates to the game. Same goes for EA. The new trailer they released shows a comparison of Live 14 vs 15 and while 15 looks significantly improved, i'm going need to see it translate to the game before I buy into the hype.
