Honesty will win you nothing in this world, other than a criminal record or mark on your head.

Wrong. He qualified for the race thus was good enough. But he gave up his Olympic spot to Denny Morrison (who failed to qualify because he fell at the Nationals), who then won the Silver. He is the ultimate team player and selflessness.

But it's obvious that he's not influential since y'all doing the opposite of his example by stuffing the ballot and screwing him. Sad commentary on the world we live in. :banghead:

Influential is not the same as noble.

I admire Junio but would argue that through basketball's reach and the following (and growth) of the team specifically, Masai has influenced more behavior than Junio - that it's largely commercial instead of altruistic may be a a sad commentary on society, but even the very nature of a poll is indicative of who resonates more.

Frankly, it's a stupid "matchup" in the first place and I don't think pitting them against each makes much sense, but hey, media companies stopped giving a crap about that sort of thing in the name of eyeballs and website hits a long time ago.

Masai's work with basketball without borders and in Africa is significantly more...significant than Junio giving up his spot on the olympic team.

I agree with this completely and think Masai "competes" very well on the nobility scale, but even that work likely pales in comparison to his work as GM when it comes to actually influencing people and their actions (which to me implies affecting their behavior, getting them to change their perspective on something etc.).

I wish we got wind of this in round 1 so that we could manipulate the polls to make "Social Media" win.

I wish "Social Media" was Canada's most influential sports figure.

Gilmore Junio was essentially ordered by his coaches to sit out a race that he qualified for just so another skater had a chance at a medal. They covered it up as a feel good story but it was anything but.

Exactly, the coaches approached him about it first it's not like it was his idea to do it. He earned the spot and should have raced, I feel for the guy.

Probably all the Knicks trolls read this and are stuffing the ballot.
