There are (many) days that I would trade our current "success" for a chance to watch Wiggins grow on a young Raptors team. I just feel like he's going to be one of those amazing pros and you don't always get to see those type of players grow and flourish (ex. young Carter). The first couple years would be rough, but with the right pieces around him...I feel like our ceiling would be higher than what it currently is/going to be.

He'd turn into Shawn Marion on the Cavaliers, which isn't bad, but now he's projected to be a Julius Erving (not comparing their games, just their possible peak levels).

Dude just started blossoming out of no where. The beta shell is gone, reminds me of Rose transition from Memphis to the NBA

During the Rookie/Sophomore game I think it was CWebb that made the Wiggins / Sprewell comparison.

Not sure if I agree, but I thought it was an interesting comparison.

EDIT - Wanted to add the basketball reference chart but not sure how to.

Man... to think that a lot of people doubted him in the beginning of the season. He's like a sponge when it comes to learning.

Analysts compare him to B level all stars all the time. PG, Spree etc.

Spree was all heart, hustle and athletic ability. His handle was wild and his shot hideous, Poor comparison.

Edit: A good comparison for spree is actually demar derozan. (Although DeRozans handles are pretty nice now)

My god I can't believe they got Wiggins for Love. Minny has to find a way to turn Shabbaz, Wiggins, Rubio into a competitive team.

I think CWebb said he based the comparison off of body type and athletic ability and not potential or anything like that

Maybe body type.....although I think Wiggins will fill out more than Spree did.

As far as athleticism goes, Wiggins is just on another level.

This. KG is super-intense and badass, which is where Wiggins is weak. KG is going to be good for Wiggins' career. He'll be primed when he comes home as a free agent to Toronto.

OT: Andrew Wiggins Proving His Skeptics Wrong

Post#456 » by Risk101 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 8:00 am

You remember media members saying Andrew Wiggins was only going to be a "defensive" player in his career and lacked the offensive tools to become relevant in the NBA. Something to the sort of articles like these:

Andrew Wiggins faltered in Kansas’s loss to Stanford today, scoring just four points on 1-6 shooting. He’s still the presumptive first overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft on account of his astonishing upside potential, but he’s probably not going to come in and take the league immediately by storm. This dynamic is of concern to Charles Barkley, who has consistently said that he wishes college basketball players would stay for at least two years.

“I want these kids to stay in school longer because the NBA is worse than it’s ever been,” Barkley said. “It’s not good basketball. It’s frustrating for me to watch. These kids aren’t physically or emotionally ready to come and play against grown men.”

http://thebiglead.com/2014/03/23/charle ... grown-men/

NBA Draft: Who has the Most Bust Potential?

Andrew Wiggins: 4
If you’re rating Wiggins on the chances that he comes a superstar in the NBA, then sure, he could definitely be a bust by that unrealistic standard. Almost everyone would be a bust by the standard that has been set for Wiggins. He probably won’t be a superstar. But he probably won’t fail either. He’s too athletic to completely flame out. He should at least be a starter in the league for a very long time and be a lockdown defender for many years in the NBA. Whether he’s ever a 20+ scorer, Wiggins should be a big contributor to whatever team drafts him.

Well.......... He has this to say.

Winning is fun and all, but I would trade our short-term success for a chance to watch Wiggins grow and flourish on Raptors. He has all the tools to be one of those special players. It's not even me being a "canadian homer" because I didn't even grow up in Canada. I just think he's an amazing player.

Also, Demar could learn something from watching Wiggins shoot. He gets great separation from his man with a really good stepback move, and then goes straight up and shoots. His shot looks amazing from a mechanics perspective. Where Demar gets his separation by fading away. Even on shots that he doesn't need to fade, he fades. Which takes a lot of his legs out of his shot and a lot of accuracy.
