I bet you it was one of those questions that reporters usually lead the players on to, in order to get more hits on their columns. For all we know Val could have been asked "do you think you can be considered for an allstar spot?" And of course, the audience wouldn't know about the question that led to this answer, which in isolation, is more attention grabbing. On the other hand, Val could just be extremely confident, to which I have no issues with

Haha, maybe he thinks the current system is still like the old one, where Cs were needed on the roster? It got guys like Antonio Davis and Jamaal Magloire on the all-star team... although at least they averaged a double-double during their all-star seasons.
