Predict the Raptors 2015 offseason..

Post#1 » by teamLeiweke » Sun Jun 28, 2015 12:10 pm

I don't know about you my I am counting down to the days till July 1 FA begins..

In usual raptors fashion I am probably just setting myself up for a massive let down.

Having said that, I set up a poll to find out what the RealGM users think is the most likely scenario for the Raptors this off season.

This is NOT what you WANT to happen, rather what you think will actually happen.

Thanks for participating.

If we get Marc Gasol I see us losing to LeBron in 5 at best in the ECF. We'd probably let a lame excuse like experience screw us over. I'd say a more realistic move would be moving Ross + JV for some help now... Still, Ujiri isn't really predictable in his methods.

What might actually happen though is that Ujiri will make a good attempt at Tristan Thompson

And if we got Marc Gasol, we would likely be the 2nd best team in the conference only behind LeBron James.

And trading Jv and Ross would get u much less than signing MGasol outright. And by signing MGasol you still have Ross and Jv

Your post is very confusing.

I'd say, Masai will make some bold moves. I vote for:
1. Amir will be convinced for taking 3 yrs vet minimum contract
2. Ross is gone
3. All FA's except Amir are gone (may be, PsychoT stays as well)
4. Top tier SF is signed
5. Bruno makes the roster

EDIT: below nightmare is ended by Christmas (this is not offseason move; nevertheless...)

#1 We will have 2 improved starters @ PF & SF PF Terrence Jones SF Tobias Harris or Trevor Ariza or Danilo Gallinari
#2 None of our expiring contracts will return
#3 If one of our top 3 players is moved its DeMar but not a high probability 35% it would be for a trade if Miami lost Wade and wanted to contend Demar & NYKs/Denver 2016 1st for Winslow, Anderson & filler
#4 Canadian Cojo or maybe Dwight Powell
#5 back-up C guy like Cole Aldrich
#6 Ross retained till trading deadline hopefully get value back

Starting 2015/16
PG Lowry. Cojo, Wright
SG DeMar, Ross, Powell
SF Ariza, JJ, Dunleavy & Bruno
PF Jones, Patterson, JJ
C Jonas, Bebe, Aldrich type

Makes sense except TJones starting - he noway has this capability. Rockets started him because of not having anyone better. When DMo showed up, TJones landed back on bench. And their playoffs made TJoness' weak points very visible. He did just a bit better than Ross in PO. Another point is that, as long as Casey stays, you may forget about JV-Bebe-'Aldrich type' at 5.

So far according to the board, it looks like we think the Raptors will either be signing a top tier SF, and/or adding more role players.

If true, and we let Amir walk, who starts at PF?

Patrick Patterson?

I'm not sure that having Val as the starter and a similarly stiff big in Aldrich (or an Aldrich "type") backing him up is intelligent in todays NBA. The change of pace back-up showed tobe a major asset in the playoffs this year, with a faster smaller back-up or starter being subbed for the bigger, less agile player.

1. If Amir will take Udonis money that w/be huge.
2. As tough and frustrating as Ross has been I think the Raps will show continued patience with him and get him to play more 2.
3. I think with Vasquez gone we will re-sign Lou especially if we strike out on bigger names.
4. I don't think we will get a top SF but rather get someone like Dunleavy Jr. who brings veteran shooting and defence at the position and allows JJ/Bruno/Daniels room to develop.
5. Bruno spends 80 per cent of the season in the D league book it.

We'll probably go after a big name RFA Small Forward like Leonard, Butler or Harris when those teams match
we might go after a Millsap or Danny Green(ugh)

If their price is to high Masai will go back to making his famous small little moves and preserve most
of the cap space for a better FA class next year.

If the team sucks during the season then we can start trading off the core and dump Casey after the season

MGasol, Aldridge, KLove, Draymond, Millsap, Leonard, JButler, Harris, Middleton, Carroll, DGreen, Wes Matthews...

Other than Durant, who is available in 2016?

Return to Toronto Raptors
