When Spurs win it next year with a Duncan and Aldridge front court, suddenly everyone is gonna move away from small ball and want traditional bigs again next offseason. Lol.

These reports are getting a bit ridiculous..

When Jordan dominated everyone wanted their offence to go through a SG that had mid range.

When Shaq and Duncan dominated everyone wanted a big man.

When Celtics were winning everyone wanted a Big 3.

Warriors win it. Everyone wants Draymond Green at their 4.

Spurs gonna win it and everyone's gonna want Twin Towers.

Rinse, Recycle, Repeat.

His name is Gregg Popovich.

Not enough shots in the world to make that team happy.

So they don't want him to be able to play his entire final season...

This small ball hype is a joke.

It would be like atom house league... 1 guy reluctantly in bounding the ball, with 4 guys each demanding it...whichever one gets it is taking it all the way for a crazy shot

Anthony Davis is going to put up historic numbers over the next few years.

I don't see it so much as "small ball" as it is getting your 5 best players on the floor at the same time. You want to have guys on the floor that can do more than 1 thing - hit the 3, ball handle a bit, hit free throws, close out on the perimeter, defend multiple positions, rebound, box out, etc. I've come around to liking this strategy when I think of it that way. The problem currently facing the NBA big man is that the majority of them out there are flawed/1-dimensional. There are very, very few 2-way big men and even fewer that can hit free throws at an acceptable rate.

If we were looking at this trend of smallball through the lenses of the moneyball approach, if the trend is small, undervalued assets in the market place would be bigs - acquiring bigs and playing big.

Playing small only works if you have versatile and GOOD small players.

Truly small ball is a dumb trend. And I agree with OakleyDokely.

By the way, the smartest coach in the league is going to start a traditional lineup of guys sized 6'11/6'11/6'7/6'6/6'2.
