Please get this done Cavs. I wouldn't sign him to a 5 year 53 million and am afraid the Raps will give him an insane contract.

At this point he should just sign the qualifying offer and become a UFA next season. He could still choose to return to Cleveland next summer but he'd get a huge payday somewhere.

Chris Broussard is an idiot. So TT is willing to sign an offer the Cavs never offered. Dafuq?

Well that was a giant tease. Got my hopes up that Masai would not waste cap space on the offensive rebounder. Damn.

I know there's a "new nba" coming next year but I wouldn't give TT more than 10/year, glad someone else did though.

Re: OT: Tristan Thompson to re-sign in Cleveland: 3YR, $53M
I really like Thompson's game, and I think he'd be a really nice piece on this roster.
That being said though, paying him a max deal (along with Carroll's $15 mill/season deal) could be a bit devastating on our cap situation. I do think he's a guy who could be like a "Rashard Lewis" signing from years ago (he's not the scorer Lewis was), way overpaid but a very good player that could elevate a team, but I don't see this team being ready for that.
I think overpaying Tristan would be a good move if A) we're able to get a blue chip prospect in the draft with the Knicks/Nuggets pick, or B) the roster has (or will be) changed significantly by the time of free agency and is one player away from being a contending team. For instance, if we had someone like Paul George or Melo (or the dream of getting Boogie starting at the 5), then overpaying a guy like Thompson would put us over the top. With the current roster, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But who knows I guess....

Anyone Else a Little Sick of Tristan Thompson?
Im starting to really dislike this kid.
I appreciate that he plays hard, but he is a one dimensional player.
Why does this kid think he is so entitled to a $18m per year pay day? 3 years $54m from the Cavs is what he will "accept".... This kid is a $14m dollar player max.
Last year's stats, 8ppg, 8rbg, 0.7 bpg. These are bench player stats. 15.6 PER, this is slightly above average.
I can absolutely see this guy taking the money and then dropping the effort level. Any team that gives him what he wants will be making a huge mistake IMO

Personally I think it's great. Clearly the Cavs want to keep him, but TT thinks he can milk as much as he can out of Cleveland's desperation to please the almighty LeBron. Anything that doesn't help that organization is fine by me.

Rich Paul is very much behind this as well, since he wants to maximize his cut - remember the whole Bledsoe ordeal with Pheonix?
