Raptors play in a division with a bunch of lottery teams. Jays have to deal with the Yankees and Red Sox every year. And not only did they win their division, but they have the best record in the American League right now.

It's been over 2 decades since the Jays have even made the playoffs. The are also a legit contender to win it all. Arguably the favorites as well. When was the last time previous Jays, Raptors or Leafs could we say this about? Add that they have one of the best offenses in history, the MVP in JD (who is quickly reaching legendary status in the city), potentially the CY winner in Price, fan favorites in Bautista, Edwin, Stroman, Martin. It's not hard to see why the hype is insane right now.

It's great, but the pressure on the Jays is so high. MLB postseason is a cruel animal where the grittiest, most talented, most heart teams don't always win. Hell, MLB baseball is a cruel animal.

To be fair to the Raptors tho it's a lot easier to win the World Series than an NBA Championship.

That may be true, but I also think making the post-season in the MLB is harder than making the post-season in the NBA.

Also, living on Vancouver Island, I can tell you that there are so many people here (even former Torontonians) who know of the Raptors but that's about it. They don't care if they win or lose, or if the Raptors gets sold and moved to a different city. On the other hand, these same people will and do cheer for the Blue Jays.

For example, many of my co-workers are following the Blue Jays. They have never followed the Raptors nor will they ever.

The Blue Jays are truly "Canada's team". The Raptors (and the Leafs and TFC) are not. This isn't to disparage the Raptors or other professional sports teamsin Toronto. I'm just telling it like it is from the west coast.

How could you not cheer them on, they've been amazing! Reminds me of when we first got back into the playoffs against Brooklyn. I was so pumped and it looked like the Raps captured Canada in the process. It was nice to see more fans coming out.

They're just bandwagoners, if the Raptors become dominant all of a sudden they would become "Canada's team". I don't take those kinds of people seriously.
