i wanted this pick to be at least top 8 by the end but with how bad some teams are playing like the Lakers, Pelicans, Brooklyn, Kings, And even teams that were suppose to be great like Houston. It just seems like the Knicks and Nuggets will hang around the .500 mark and this pick might be a 12-15 pick . I hope im Wrong tho

People are getting their hopes up.

Neither team projects to be bottom of the barrelled this year. At best we're looking at a pick in the 9-15 range. We're more likely looking at a Ross to Ed Davis level pick but need to pray Masai can spot a Klay, Drummond, George or Leonard that other teams let slip by.

My prayer will be that for once we can trade up like this one and ours to crack the top 5 and find a gem to save this franchise from the treadmill.

The Knicks and Nuggets are really thin. The problem this year is that so many bad teams don't have their picks or have swapped the right to their pick. It makes for a complicated forecast. Talent-wise the Knicks and Nuggets will end up in the 30-40 win range, but with all these teams without their own pick, I think we'll see more of a glut there than outright tankers. So, this pick could end up like you said in the late lotto, but I would count it out being near the top 5. Either way, we gave up Bargnani for it and have been competitive since. Can't be seen as anything other than sunshine for this franchise.

This pick means everything to the franchise. We need a superstar to get off the treadmill.

All I have to say to everyone in a panic is that as long as both teams are in the lottery there will be at least a handful of combinations that would net the raps a top 3 pick.

It's true that the Knicks are quite thin, although you wonder if they could survive without Carmelo for a bit in that he's shooting poorly, they're 26th in FG% but 12th on O because they never turnover the ball and get lots of ORebs. I guess they would probably start turning it over a lot if Melo wasn't around (and Galloway will starting turning it over a bit. He's cut his rate in half from last year. That's gotta be at least somewhat small sample size) , and maybe some of the Orebs that Porzingis, O'Quinn and Lopez are getting is because of attention paid to Melo.

A Lopez injury could see them drop defensively a fair bit, I guess, though you figure O'Quinn and Porzingis could handle another 5-10 minutes each. But the extra 10ish Amundson or Derrick Williams or whoever might hurt significantly.

I don't think the Nuggets are that thin. Only Mudiay has a Usage % over 21.5 and as exciting a prospect as he looks, he's shooting 30%. So, I'm not sure they are more susceptible to injury than most teams. Maybe even a bit less. Chandler being out for the year hurts since he's so versatile, and Gallinari is always a potential injury.

The good news with the Nugs is that they are 6th from bottom in the West but Houston, New Orleans and Memphis should all improve. Only the Lakers look hopeless. In the East, the Wiz should start playing ball too. Hopefully Milwaukee can too and only Brooklyn and the 76ers look hopeless.

Perfect for them, they needed an 8th power forward.

I wish the Knicks/Nuggets were worse than this... Looks like our pick will be like in the 11-13 range

Just to clarify, if the Nuggets finish 12th worst in the lottery while Knicks win 4th worst, which pick do we get? 12 or 4?

You are reading way too much into a 10 game sample size. Its possible these are 40 win type teams, but they are more likely both in the 25-30 range.

I think that with the range that the pick could be, the best option for us would be Ivan rabb from cal. He had 14 and 13 in his debut and has a little bosh in him but I think he can even be better as he's ambidextrous. He is a bit skinny right now but cal has a great strength coach. He's already added like 20 pounds. He's great in the post and can face up and is a very smart player. He is the most ideal fit for the raptors with regards to where the pick is projected
