So to take a recent example, you agreed with Lowry playing the entire 4th quarter of the Detroit game, despite leading the first half of said quarter by 15-20 points? He played 40+ minutes that game. You don't think it was possible to get him a breather, or was the 20-point lead against a lotto team too fragile? And worse it actually backfired because Casey rode his lineup into the ground - there's that fatigue problem creeping in again.
Also, can people stop using this awful argument? This just in: coaching is not an exact science, and coaches - being people - are not infallible. That doesn't mean everyone criticizing a coach's blatant mistakes believe they'd know more than s/he does.
Uh yeah it does. Even the way you word it is arrogant.

Re: Casey wants to lower Lowry's minutes
Hopefully the standings work out in April where we clinch a certain seed with little chance of moving up or down. Rest Lowry for 1-2 games before playoffs.
All this being said though, I think Lowry expected the workload this year which is why he went all out on getting in shape last off season. I don't think we'll see such a drastic drop off from fatigue, if at all, this Spring.

What happened last year had NOTHING (NOTHING) to do with fatigue.
This has been discussed ad nauseum and the only reason it persists is because people are too damned stubborn to realize when they are just flat out wrong.
You know he was playing terribly all of the 2nd half and not only after the back bruise, right?
Nobody is saying fatigue is the ONLY factor, or even the primary one. Sometimes it's just dumb bad luck, but the point is that you can CONTROL the minutes (completely, in fact), so you should take advantage of that.

Re: Casey wants to lower Lowry's minutes
This is just Casey being a good politician and saying what everyone wants to hear. But we all know he will never follow through with this. The sad reality is that our team is awful without either of lowry or derozan on the floor at any given time. Without these two we are a sub .500 team and Casey knows this. He has to ride them to as many wins as he can in order to pad his win/loss column when he inevitably gets fired after another first round exit and needs to look for a new job next year.
Seriously though, it would be nice to rest our stars a bit more and lower their minutes but we simply can't do that if we want to continue winning. Kyle and Demar need help badly and we all know this. Unfortunately we aren't the Spurs or the Warriors where we can go up 25-30 points on teams by halftime and then sit all our starters for the entire 4th quarter every game.

If the Raps will stop staring the first quarter so bad, and allow teams to play catch up in the third, this wouldn't be an issue. But then we also have the late fourth quarter collapses to deal with.

You are mistaking a truth with which you are evidently uncomfortable with arrogance.
And for the record, I'd probably make an awful NBA head coach. That doesn't mean I won't stop calling him out for some of his bone-headed moves.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Look at his stats for March of last year. That is after he got time to heal his hamstring and before his back injury.
It was actually one of his best stretches of the entire season.
That is basically the crux of why i believe fatigue was not an issue.
If anything, it is more likely that his poor performance before he got time off was due to playing with a hamstring injury, plus a few other bumps and bruises.
The absurd mystery of the strange forces of existence.

I'm not mistaking anything or uncomfortable with any part of your arrogance. Just thought saying the arrogant statement yet denying it in the same sentence was ridiculous.
Yes he should cut his minutes. Casey's point was the other players on the team need to step up so he can cut his minutes. Not so sure why that's so hard to see here.

Casey is saying we need a pure shooting guard off the bench that will give us 15-20 points on any given night - Tross has gained his confidence back, but he ain't that good - he doesnt have the mentality of taking over... and it seems he never will get there..

Re: Casey wants to lower Lowry's minutes
I'm happy he is actually playing the young player this year...before it was really bad. Like he gave Powell two starts!
Maybe resting Lowry so he can dominate the 3pt contest!

Casey says this like he has no control in Lowry's minutes.

Re: Casey wants to lower Lowry's minutes
it would work if Cory Joseph wasn't a pound the rock until the bitter end PG who can't create his own shot like Lowry can. Joseph is basically a drive draw and dish or bucket PG. His jumper is awful, the offence bogs down with him on the court...the only useful thing he brings is tremendous defence at the PG spot. Unless Casey pairs Joseph with DeRozan and Ross...its a recipe for disaster.
