I hope you guys realize the State of North Carolina passed the law in DIRECT opposition to a law that the city of Charlotte passed that actually protects LGBT right?

The NBA is punishing the city for the actions of the State and their despicable governor.

The screw job includes major businesses cancelling hiring in the area:

The canceled business expansions and events are listed below.

On Tuesday, Deutsche Bank announced it was canceling a planned expansion of its operations in Cary, which is near Raleigh, the state capital. The expansion would have added 250 jobs; 900 people are already employed at the Cary facility.

Last week, PayPal announced it canceled plans to open a new global payment center in Charlotte, which was expected to bring 400 new jobs to the city.

Thirteen planned conventions and events in Charlotte have been canceled in response to the state's anti-LGBT bill. And 29 more groups are on a “hesitant/concerned list,” reports The Charlotte Observer.

The New York Times notes that the state could lose billions of dollars in federal funding for schools, highways, and housing.

Eight cities and four states have banned publicly funded employee travel to the state.

Lionsgate canceled an eight-day production shoot in response to the bill.

The Tony-award winning Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz and his collaborators halted all productions of Wicked in the state in protest.

It is free PR for these companies, nothing more.

Yet nothing stops the politically correct Paypal, Deutsche Bank, etc to continue doing business with backwards countries that continue to discriminate and abuse its citizens...

It is a PR move, but it will definitely hurt the Hornets income next season.

I prefer watching NCAA basketball too. Just saying they're as corrupt as any other organization.

LOL... Yes true sport, dribble for 39 seconds and then try to throw up shot last second. College game is garbage, yeah showtime is terrible. Who wants to see great plays and people actually make shots.

There are no superstars in college, all potential superstars leave after one year. Who was last years superstar that needs to be protected?

I wonder if they're thinking about having it in New Orleans just to generate revenue there. I happened to be there when the Raptors were playing the Pelicans. I didn't plan on attending the game because I didn't want to spend $20+ for nosebleeds when I could be out on Bourban Street. Then I found lower bowl tickets for $5 bucks. That's right, $5 bucks for lower bowl tickets. And when I was there the arena was still half empty.

Here's the statement from the NBA:

“The NBA has decided to relocate the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte with the hope of rescheduling for 2019.

“Since March, when North Carolina enacted HB2 and the issue of legal protections for the LGBT community in Charlotte became prominent, the NBA and the Charlotte Hornets have been working diligently to foster constructive dialogue and try to effect positive change. We have been guided in these discussions by the long-standing core values of our league. These include not only diversity, inclusion, fairness and respect for others but also the willingness to listen and consider opposing points of view.

“Our week-long schedule of All-Star events and activities is intended to be a global celebration of basketball, our league, and the values for which we stand, and to bring together all members of the NBA community – current and former players, league and team officials, business partners, and fans. While we recognize that the NBA cannot choose the law in every city, state, and country in which we do business, we do not believe we can successfully host our All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by HB2.

“We are particularly mindful of the impact of this decision on our fans in North Carolina, who are among the most passionate in our league. It is also important to stress that the City of Charlotte and the Hornets organization have sought to provide an inclusive environment and that the Hornets will continue to ensure that all patrons – including members of the LGBT community – feel welcome while attending games and events in their arena.

“We look forward to re-starting plans for our All-Star festivities in Charlotte for 2019 provided there is an appropriate resolution to this matter.

“The NBA will make an announcement on the new location of the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in the coming weeks.”

What a joke. The bill doesn't effect private businesses, the NBA is free to adopt any bathroom policy they wish. Oh, and how is saying "no" to men having access to womens bathrooms/changerooms worse than saying "no" to men who wish to join the WNBA? Isn't that discrimination? Hypocrisy.

Yeah, when you frame the issue according to your own **** up sense of reality, it really doesn't make any sense does it? It's almost as though you have to understand other points of view, specifically the points of view of people who actually understand the issue.
