Man, if you showed me that clip in Demar's rookie year, I'd be so proud. So much work into his game. His footwork on offense is superb and he didn't have any of it coming into the league.

Also, I think he deserves even more fouls call than he's getting.

That was insane!! It's up there with some of the best highlights of any player this season.

The degree of difficulty on some of those shots/contorting-layups including some of those ridiculous hit-the-top-of-the-acc floaters on and1s was a thing of beauty reminiscent of a young Wade.

I was a huge skeptic of DeMar earlier in his career, but this is not even close to the same player. This guy is decisive, he attacks, he has a variety of moves, he can finish both hands in any fashion whether layup/reverse/floater, he has a plethora of kobe-esque post moves and shimmy shakes, his mid range has improved, and his athleticism is climbing up a notch as well.

He was more of a body control athlete in the past, and now he seems to have this explosive burst on his jump and hang time that makes me realize why they called him a "freak athlete" coming out of highschool (even though I highly disagreed with that sentiment originally).

The most impressive thing I walked away with from this video wasn't all the things I listed above, it's the fact he did this against some of the best perimeter defenders in the entire league and made it look easy. KCP, Middleton/Giannis, John Wall, PJ Tucker, Thabo Sefolosha / Bazemore, Winslow, etc.

I like how most of the RS clips on the video are against non-playoff teams. Very fitting.

So good.

Is this a Kobe compilation tho? I'm confused, I thought he retired.

I get what you're saying - Demar's success can waver depending on the quality of defence being played ie. are guys biting on pump fakes, going under screens, etc. Interesting note, however, the player that the NBA champions struggled the most to defend in the playoffs was Demar.

That had more to do with game planning and lack of personnel. It's well documented that DeMar struggles big time when guarded by bigger wing players (PG, Deng, etc). LeBron wasn't guarding DeRozan for 80% of the series.

New DeMar DeRozan 2015-16 Season Highlights Compilation

Post#14 » by Double Helix » Sun Sep 18, 2016 12:26 am

Great mix. I still think his best regular season and playoff performances are ahead of him on this new contract. Practice makes progress. Especially a long playoff run like last year. Previously he was playing 7 games at most in the playoffs and bowing out. Sometimes less. Last year gave him a much larger, sustained look at what it's like, what changes, and the increased exposure and criticism might have woken him up to some criticism he previously thought was smaller or less trustworthy. He certainly played better closer to the end and I'm hoping that experience lit a lightbulb for him and that next year's playoffs will be his best yet. The Raptors will be a much more dangerous playoff team if he, Kyle, JV and Carroll all play like they're capable of at once in a series.

I've always liked DeMar's footwork, it's one of the reasons I think he had the potential to age gracefully. He's got nice moves with his back to the basket and his step through move is on point. I'd like to think this will be his best year to date.

Am I the only one to notice that this footage is sped up a little bit? Makes everything seem a bit more explosive. Still a sick comp tho.

I don't think it is. The announcer voices would sound weird. Plus I took out a stop watch. I think it's just the clips changing quickly that makes it seem that way.

He's got flaws, but you have to admit, Derozan's footwork is flawless.
