I guess that makes him the odds on favourite to be the 10th man.

I'm excited by this, but I mean, both Patterson and Sully are UFAs. Are you sure you want to start the season off by leaking that there's no way these guys are coming back?

Wolstat doesn't have the source(s) for this.

I said it earlier, but I expect Pascal to be back up 5 at some point this year, and to run away with it.

I think he'll be good too. He's probably going to James Johnson in a bit with help defense and go rouge. But his length, fluidity, touch around the bucket, pretty excited.

Pascal will be the next Manimal

His energy and athleticism will be much needed on this team. He will get minutes this year imo.
We relied on Biz so much last year, don't see how we get away from that

Two related but separate points. DC is referring to the quote, "(as an aside: )" is Wolstat speaking himself on something he heard from a Raptors source.

Guess he's the longterm answer at the 4 spot.

They meant he will be the 905 starter by Year 2.

Loved him as a pick because he brings it on every possessions. Those guys succeed in this league. He still has lot's to add to his game but still he'll be a pro.

Whether he pans out or not, his age/college senior status really puts him in the mix almost immediately in a position of immediate need for the Raps. Usually I'm all for the developing of prospects with ceiling, but if Siakam can contribute early, it's a homerun pick at 27.

The value to the organization of a cheap, contributing PF on a rookie deal while we pay DD the max, is compounded even more. It's all about timing... and Siakam is in the right place at the right time.

I doubt this is true. Why would someone with the Raptors org say this to Wolstat. Seriously.

Well he'll have it earned that...unlike another 1st rounder who has been gifted a d-league starting role...cough cough, freak arms cough cough.

I think what Wolstat and others are trying to convey is that Siakam plays with a ton of confidence. You can see it in the way he carries himself both on court and in interviews. He knows he belongs in the NBA and he can make an impact. I think he could stand to gain some weight, and we will see how good his jumper is, but from what he projects to be in the NBA, I can see a good energy big.

From college he was an elite rebounder, could provide decent help defense and he could outrun guards in transition. I think his running is elite, and could add up to minutes for him. It really depends on his b-ball IQ.

On a side note, I think the Raps have been super quiet around Poeltl's potential. He is a lottery pick but there is hardly a mention about him. I always thought he was ahead of Siakam from a skill/knowledge POV. I am curious to see him in action.

It's well within believability. Wolstat has a conversation about their future cap crunch and the fact that both 2Pat and Sully are UFAs, they respond that they're high on Siakam and think he could start by year 2. Why would he even bother making this up?
