Kyle Lowry might see Spurs as an alternative option, would that make sense for him?

Post#1 » by Berserk_Raptor » Mon Nov 28, 2016 1:47 am

Yeah, most of you would say this is old news but to be honest, Kyle could fit into Popovichs system, he is like Manu Ginobili, one of the most clever PGs in the league. Moreover, you gotta take into account that Kyle already has playoffs experience and a gold medal with team USA. What else? Just imagine this core:
Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard and LMA.

Would this make sense for Lowry? Yes, does not only he receives his money but also a more stacked team like the spurs. Does this make sense for SA? Yes, remember that Popovich, apart from talent, looks for smart guys.

btw, my source

The Spurs would have to make some trades and maneuver some contracts to create room for Lowry.

Needless to say, Lowry would be expecting nothing short of a maximum-level contract. The Raptors are in a position to offer him the most lucrative five-year deal. But Lowry could be tempted to join the Spurs if he’s pursuing championships.

Well, I guess he'd be crazy not to be interested. One of the best run franchises in pro sports over the past 15, one of the best coaches in the history of the league, along with a top 5 player (who's not exactly a ball-dominant player) and a really good PF? Yeah, that's an amazing situation, and I wouldn't blame him in the least. I don't see why every player wouldn't want to go to the Spurs.

On the flip side, I think this is similar to Demar & the Lakers, or Kyle & the Rockets a few years back. I think he'll look elsewhere if we don't treat him well in free agency, or something else happens. But I think he'll be back next season.

In before TradeLowry comments ; Tempting but he'll be back with us next season he won't leave his other half brother and Masai loves the continuum and don't break what is not broken yet; I can go to say Lowry and Demar will retire a Raptors

Fun fact - your comment is only 30 minutes old and it has as many and1s as some of TradeLowrys top ones

Either way, I can't see how the SPurs could even do this..? They would have to gut their entire team
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

If KL was to leave which I don't expect him to, he wouldn't go to SA. Casey gives KL a lot of freedom Popovic wouldn't, and it would end up creating conflicts similar to those with McHale imo.

3 teams good for KL outside Toronto - Miami, Sacramento, and Houston.

Never say never. There's always a chance he leaves. If he thinks we'll get to the finals he'll stay but who knows what he's thinking.

Thanks that means a lot 8-); Anyways people don't understand they just assume that Lowry is getting older and he'll decline in couple years just trade him and rebuild but I don't see it that way. Even though Lowry is in his 30s I see him getting better if he keep his conditioning right. I think he's starting to enter into his Prime years rather then pasting his Prime years at his age ; I dunno gut feeling

No doubt a credible source, check the other rumours posted by that paper.

" Lowry to sixes for okafor? "

" Lowry to unite with Westbrook in okc? "

Seriously though this has to be a negotiation tactic by someone in his camp. No chance Masai lets him walk without compensation

OP, you really need to find a more reliable source before you post.

He became a star here and he will retire here. I'd be shocked if he leaves cause I honestly don't see a better situation for him than here, even SA etc..

I think the Spurs will go after George Hill. KLow will stay with Raps.

Portland fans didn't think they'd lose Aldridge. OKC fans didn't think Durant was going anywhere.

I don't think Lowry would leave Toronto but never say never.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

morningnewsusa is the same fake news website that announced the DeMarcus Cousins trades. For all we know, you're their basketball news writer.

I only think this scenario is interesting because one of my free agency predictions (before Memphis handed out a contract worth the size of Memphis' entire economy) was Mike Conley going to the Spurs to usher out the old era and start a new Big 3 with Kawhi and LMA. Kyle in San An would be intriguing, and him leaving Toronto depends entirely on how the season plays out. But I'd think he would like to stay given he's established himself with DD here.

Kyle, like Demar, doesn't seem like a guy that would leave once he's found himself a really good situation. But hey, if the Raps lose in the first round this year somehow I'm sure he'd think long and hard about it if this Spurs make a pitch.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

another source, anyway, its just possibility. As someone said, Blazers never thought theyd lose LMA, but once he met with Popovic, he convinced him, so anything is possible.

Couldn't even hate Lowry if this happened. You go from Casey and Demar's defense to Pop and Kahwi? Lol no brainer
