It doesn't. It's been explained many times in this thread.

Our last reg season game is April 12th against the Cavs which is 44 days away, so even if he misses 5 weeks, he'd still return for the last week of the season.

While the all star game might not have caused the injury, fans can still be upset that he didn't err on the side of caution and get some rest. Why play through a hurt wrist for an exhibition game.

Plus if he had disclosed the injury with the club after Charlotte, the examination, surgery, recovery could have been one week sooner.

I'm not blaming Lowry. I understand how tough nosed he is, how much that all star appearance means to him. I totally understand why he did what he did. He probably thought it was a minor thing. Just saying - in retrospect - an extra week would have been huge.

How does the Toronto medical staff not catch what his doctor in New York caught. MLSE needs to find better staff and get better specialists lined up to consult with.

Would have been nice for the team to know this before the trade deadline.

Pretty bad judgement by Kyle.

So this team is going to go from averaging roughly 18-19 assists per game, and loses Lowry with 7 of those... Nevermind the scoring, the dependability, drawing charges etc.

...The raptors are fuc*ked, there is no sugar-coating or getting around that.

Me: Remove loose bodies in right wrist?

Friend: Loose fragments are likely bone fragments from an old break. Doubt it will make his wrist feel much better but should only by 3-4 week recovery

Me: Raps docs said 4-5. I'm holding you to 3 weeks

Friend: I feel like team docs always quote longer so that when the player makes "an early return" it's sensational team news

That was a brief text exchange I had with a friend that is an actual Doctor. Idk if that makes anyone feel any better but I figured what's better than an outside opinion from another doctor (as far as you know) that has absolutely no insight on the situation except can quote from previous experience he may or may not have actually had.

Could be one of those things where you don't pick up a basketball for 3 weeks, and so you need a week of practice shooting before you return

*When basketball fans become doctors

I looked up the procedure for removing loose bodies in the forearm and the good news is that it recommends not doing any forced gripping or heavy lifting for 2/3 weeks. The bad news is that although symptoms get better in a few weeks, the final result may take 3-6 months.

So even if he was to return for the playoffs, he likely wouldn't be at 100%.

I'd give our back ups 4-5 games and if they look shaky try to sign Jennings. At least he's a starting calibre player. Really sets us up for Lowry hero ball when he returns though. FWIW even when he was our MVP I felt like a max deal would be a mistake. I guess time will tell. Sucks all around tbh.

This isn't making sense.... If I were a professional basketball player and my shooting hand starts swelling up I'd be nervous as **** because that's my livelihood. If I were someone paying said professional player, who happens to be my best player and PG I'd also be **** bricks if his hand/wrist is swelling up... small little injuries don't just swell up for days at a time. They see their doctors and trainers on a daily basis, how was this not disclosed and how was he not examined at the first sign of symptoms?

Either he hid it or he talked them into letting him play anyway. Either way I sense a major **** and a lot of BS in this whole scenario.

Obv. the optics of playing in the ASG after hurting himself is pretty bad but playing in that game isn't why he needs the surgery.

Honestly it's over

When Kyle is healthy he's been jekle and Hyde in the playoffs

So I'm not holding my breath

The only good side would be the possibility of having to question if he is worth the max.

looking up on this condition it does appear it is actually hard to diagnose and can occur from either an acute injury or chronic repetitive injury.

Lowry looks like he's injury prone
He looks a bit to eager to be a coach cuz he may not be coming back
