I'm not sold on any of the prospects being anything more than a 4th option. Can't see any of these guys being part of a big 3 on a winning team.

I agree and insane Bruno got 4 votes and FVV zip. Egregious. What is the deal with Norm's touches? Casey seems to have him on D assignment only.

You mean we didn't get all stars or hall of fame talents while being some one of the best teams in our conference and picking most of these guys, beyond Poeltl, near the end of the first round?

They're all complimentary players you'd want to play alongside a more superior big 3 to be sure but we could still have some very nice values. Steven Adams just signed an extension where he's to be paid 25 million dollars per year. Enes Kanter is currently being paid 18 million per year. Biyombo is getting paid 17 million per year. Even Cody Zeller now earns 14 million per year.

I really think Jakob Poeltl's talent will in time place him somewhere above Zeller and closer to Adams quality. That's a nice get for us for value. Either to keep and develop and use cap space elswhere or to eventually trade for value.

If Delon and Bebe are still considered prospects at 24 years old, shouldn't JV be on there too?

Norm is first. Jakob needs to develop a midrange shot first

Who says he doesn't have one? Maybe he just doesn't have the opportunity to show it yet.

If they reach their expected potentials, they'd make a helluva bench. Don't think any of them would make great players (at least not until they can string together more consistent play at higher levels), but as long as Masai keeps drafting the way he has, he's bound to get lucky and pick someone who becomes a star at some point.

Gobert, Jokic, Draymond, Butler, Isaiah Thomas, Parker, Ginobili, Rondo. All went in late 1st. You don't catch 'em often, but as long as you keep picking in those spots, you're gonna catch lightning for your team.

Coming into the draft that was regarded as one of his biggest weakness. Maybe he does but his shot doesn't look great atm, he freethrows show

He shot 69% his last year at Utah and has decent form. I say lack of attempts and PT is the reason.

True, but JV already got paid his 2nd contract, so his worth was quantified.

Rank our prospects!

Post#36 » by Shammgod_ » Tue Feb 28, 2017 9:02 pm

I'm surprised by how many of you are seemingly writing Bruno off completely, and I shouldn't be. Didn't he just turn 21 a few months ago? His defence looks much improved as does his offensive IQ, he's still growing physically and mentally, it's night and day going back to just last season, I still think he has a future as a rotational player in the league. Anyways, Poeltl, Powell, Delon, Bruno, Bebe, Siakam and FVV in that order, and I like Fred.

1.Poetl (7'1, quick feet/good defender, only 21, already provides what jonas could only dream of on d)
2.Powell (undersized, great defender, needs to wok on shot and playmaking ability, probably should be getting developed at the PG and he's getting on the older side)
3. FVV (undersized, very fast, decent shooter, gives it his all on d (just turned 23)
4.Siakim (undersized version of Byombo with better offense and worse rim protection/athleticism (young still)
5. Bruno - just here stealing money

Bebe/Wright don't qualify they're both turning 25 in a few months and very raw(too old).

Rank our prospects!

Post#39 » by Double Helix » Wed Mar 1, 2017 1:34 am

Age is overrated when evaluating some of these guys. 20 years ago tons of college seniors came to to the league and still needed time to adapt to it.

Wright in particular has been hurt and only recently returned.

Any 6'6 guy capable of doing the stuff seen in this video who's only played in the league a little bit should not be written off over age. Wright has considerable talent and very good size for a PG.

In some ways it's going to be nice that he's closer because we'll have some of his prime years, once he's fully adjusted to playing at the NBA level, on a cheap rookie scale deal.

Poeltl made it clear that he was too good for college ball last year and that he's too good for the D-league. When you're already there at the C spot, where typically bigs continue to develop into their late twenties, you're going to be a pretty solid big. This was his first and only game with the 905.
