I don't know if people realize how crazy a story OG Anunoby is as far as being a prospect who came out of nowhere. He was ranked 261 in the Recruiting Services Consensus Index in 2015.

He was absolutely not on any radar screens as a prospect. When Tom Crean was recruiting, he only stumbled upon Anunoby at an Under Armor event and OG wasn't even listed on the event forms. He was like a walk-on.

OG only really got to play last season when their star recruit James Blackmon Jr. had a major injury in 2016.

He hasn't really played a ton of basketball, but there is just something obvious that jumps out on film about him. He is a freak athlete and he has a very deliberate approach to the way he plays and handles himself. He seems way more mature than he should be. I think it gets mistaken for being shy, and I don't think he is.

I have faith he will figure things out because he seems so coachable, but starting your career with a major injury is very hard. I just don't expect him to contribute to Toronto this year, which is tough.

Funny watching that interview I think I finally got who his personality[ (nothing else) reminds me most of and it's not actually Kawhi but another Spur....Tim Duncan, like almost to the tee

Tell me they don't have the EXACT SAME VOICE haha, I mean in this interview Duncan actually might be more vocal/longer answers but in general Duncan was known as quiet guy that you had to get talking .

Doubt it. The first tier of Fultz, Ball, Tatum, Jackson, and Fox was pretty set, and OG is a tier below even if healthy. OG would've probably gone in the lottery though between 6-13.

It's possible in that crazier things have happened, but still very unlikely. About the same chances we have in beating the Cavs in a 7-game series. Not impossible, but chances are not high.

More so, it pains me to think that in today's NBA guys like Duncan, Shaq, Olajuwon wouldn't be picked number 1 because they can't shoot the 3. I mean just imagine the player, the person you are getting and now it doesn't compute due to analytics taking over.

The defensive tools and athletic gifts are there.
If 4 years down the line he can develop an offense we got ourselves a stud.

It's hard to picture it rationally one day removed from the draft, but doing a redraft of the classes that included Butler, Kawhi, Antetekumpo they would've been top 5 picks for sure.

It's difficult to evaluate OG now, but the people in charge thinks highly of him

Those guys would all still be consensus #1's. Towns didn't shoot 3s in college, neither did AD, Simmons' 3-point shooting is a huge question mark - yet all 3 still went #1.

First time In a long time that I had absolutely zero interest in the draft or who we picked. That being said, congrats to OG on getting picked, hopefully he has a good career. I can't say I know much(if anything) about him but he seems like a good kid so hopefully things work out for him.

Weird cause there was hella talent in this draft. It was really really hard to guage who was "likeable" at 23. I decided a month ago OG was our guy but thought we had to trade up. Masai didn't seem as happy as when he did the Jakob presser. He must be torched.

I went Leaf at first then Bam, Kuzma and then all OG. Probably was a fluke we got anyone other than Kuzma.
