League Pass Broadband

Postby rapsdotcom on Tue Oct 28, 2008 6:55 am

Has anyone been able to order the new stand-alone League Pass Broadband yet? I have an All-Access account and everything but its not in the purchasing options yet. Is it not yet available? I was just thinking that with the season getting underway they would release it by now but who knows. If anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated.

You need to purchase an NBA LEAGUE PASS TV subscription from your cable provider. Once this is done, you may need to wait up to five business days before you can activate your complimentary NBA LEAGUE PASS BROADBAND subscription.

As I understand the situation, it appears the NBA and some of the satellite companies, Dish Network for one, have not yet reached a deal with the NBA to carry League Pass. DirectTV is the only one I know for sure that has a deal in place. Not sure about Rogers. With the season a day away, it's pretty damn ridiculous.

...and it is supposed to be available as a stand-alone product, but I imagine they can't price it before finishing the deal wih the sattelite companies to make sure it's relative price makes sense.

I've had League Pass since the day it became available in Canada, not once did i bother to look into this. How do they/you confirm your ownership of League Pass TV on the website?

Your dish provider and account number.

They can also ask you to fax them your LP bill.

I went ahead and purchased the "Super Sports Pack" from Cogeco in Oakville because I was sick of waiting for the Broadband stand-alone to launch. They have an introductory offer of $19.99 per month for the first four months ($29.99 after that) and you have to sign for a minimum six months. You get League Pass, NHL Centre Ice, NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, College Football and Basketball, OHL hockey and NASCAR. Needless to say, I won't be using most of these services.

Now what I pray one of you handsome, smart and kind people can help me with is this: How do I activate my League Pass Broadband now that I've bought the League Pass for my TV? Cogeco doesn't know, the website doesn't say and the NBA hasn't responded to my email yet. I'm losing my freaking mind here over this. Surely one of you knows the answer to this mystery.

Turn to The Letter V for all your enquiries.

I think you have to sign up to "All Access" on nba.com and then do what the British gentleman instructed me to do.

I saw his response, but it's a little vague. Where do I enter or send this info? I'm guessing it's a lot easier for American customers who are able to buy the League Pass as a standalone product and have a more direct relationship with the NBA. Cogeco told me they're licensing the Sports Pack from Rogers so there are a couple of layers of problems here. First of all, neither Rogers nor Cogeco is listed on the League Pass Broadband signin page in terms of how to authenticate your account. Secondly, the fact that League Pass is bundled with this Sports Pack (Cogeco doesn't let you buy it as a stand-alone) means that I'm not given a specific account number for League Pass and the customer service people at Cogeco have no clue (and frankly don't give a crap) how to do this.

I'm losing a lot of respect for David Stern over this experience. It's nice that he has time to worry about player dress codes while something as important as this is a complete mess. God forbid he should make it easy or convenient for me to consume his actual product. It's a f***ing traveshamockery.

They must guide you once you sign up, no? Are we positive the additional service is available to Canadian League Pass TV owners? That'd be my only hesitation.

By the way, the confusion and frustration you're experiencing right now is exactly why i said i wouldn't do it.

I am almost sure I read somewhere that it is available with Rogers. Since Cogeco is licsensing from Rogers, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be available with Cogeco. Contacting the NBA is probably your best bet...the downside, their customer service is terrible.

Do Rogers customers have to purchase the whole Super Sportspack to get NBA League Pass or can we get just NBA League Pass? Anyone know?

It appears the answer is yes, unfortunately.

How can I get NBA LEAGUE PASS?
NBA LEAGUE PASS is available to Rogers customers with Personal TV when they purchase the Rogers Super Sports Pak. Simply call Rogers and ask to order the Super Sports Pak.
