Yea its going to set you back if it doesnt work out with trading Bargnani, thats the risk buts its also gonna set you back if Bosh leaves. Whats the difference then? The difference is you take your best shot while you have a player of Bosh's caliber instead of hoping one comes around later to compliment our new franchise player = Bargnani and his 3 point game.
You trade Bosh and we're in rebuilding mode, you keep Bosh and Bargnani and were in treadmill mode until 2010 until Bosh leaves, you trade Bargnani were in Championship mode. If it doesn't work out, well at leaste you tried with the closest thing to a star we'll get in the next decade. Think of what youre giving up to keep Bargnani, a honest shot at the title in the next 2-3 years with teams like lakers and Boston getting older this is our chance. And all you have to do is give up Bargnani.
You dont give him up for nothing , but this lineup
Nash
Barbosa
Joey
Bosh
Oneal (even if temporary)
you can have this lineup just by giving up Bargnani. Its on the table, Dont be stupid BC you dont pass this up unless youre 100% Bosh is staying. Thing is itll take this kind of lineup to make him stay. Cant have it both ways.
The problem with your plan is it sets us back very far. Bosh is likely not leaving in 2010, the money on the table, the new CBA and the economic outlook is going to make it tough on players. It's not a matter of where the team is. He's going to take the money while he can. Even sponsorship money is going to dry up as evidence from Tiger Woods losing out on sponsors. Bosh is not the type that's going to make up the money lost in sponsorship deals.
Even if Bosh was to leave in 2010, I'd rather have Bargs waiting just in case and his money be able to used to land another player alongside Bargs, Jose, the wing we get for JO then your whole go big or go home that is more than likely a go home plan.
Why would the Suns trade Nash and Barbosa for Bargs? They already have Amare and Shaq. That's just outright stupid and your lineup does nothing to compete with Boston, LA, Cleveland or Orlando over the next 2-3 yrs.
