JVG:"anderson V over bosh in the allstar game"

Post#1 » by t.dot-king » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:46 pm

i was just watching the lakers game and JVG said that he would rather put Anderson V. in the all star game instead of chris bosh. Also when they were making their picks for the East, he put Andrew bynum instead of any big man in the east and said he was born in the east and should be there instead of any big man in the east. what do you guys think of his remarks?

Jeff Van Gundy: "I'd take Varajeao over Bosh for All-star"

Post#2 » by NG15 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:46 pm

If it wasn't me, it was gonna be somebody else making this thread..
Basically said he'd take Andy over Bosh as back up C for the eastern team. Mike Breen thought he was crazy for thinking that..

EDIT: Mods do your magic and lock this thread.

I don't think JVG should be taken very seriously.

I like it. If JVG ever came here, he'd tell CB he was nothing at this point. He'd challenge CB into realizing it takes a lot more to be an MVP, all-star, etc than just putting up a few digits. It's about winning.

He's probably just trying to create a buzz like he always does. I still want him to coach this team though.

I'm not too surprised he said that. He'd probably take Shane Battier over Danny Granger too. Somewhat of a brilliant coach, but very flawed with how he sees talent.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I know JVG wants the all-stars to be from winning teams but c'mon.

Whatever, he's just going on and on about random **** right now. He said Andrew Bynum should be the backup centre for the East all star team, only because he's from Jersey.

He said it because Bosh is on a losing team and Varajeao is on one of the best in the league, its nbot like he said AV is a better player then Bosh.

i just heard it too. is this guy serious?

i really dont think he thought that comment through. just imagining varejo in the all-star game makes me cringe. he would be lucky to get a ticket to the main event.

but then again, i dont think bosh really deserves it either. but id take him over the "brazilian beast" (wasnt that hoffa's nickname.....to further prove my point) any day of the week.

also, raps are going on a tare till the all-star break...book it.

I would only take team records into account when comparing two players with similar roles on their respective teams. Bosh is the main guy in Toronto while AV is simply riding Lebron's coattails.

JVG may be the first knowledgable guy in what may become a long string of people who may begin to question Boshs defense and overall worth over the next 2-3 years. Bosh is a real nice player with the potential to be great, he just has to relize to be great defense comes first. I'd like Bosh to spend the entire offseason working on his defense and strength with a specialist to improve on his one and only major weakness imo. When he improves his defense he will truly become an impact player because no longer will his 23ppg be a wash because the opposing player is either scoring just as much or the opposing team is destroying the raptors in the paint.

how good is verejao when lebron is not around?

it's a ludicrous comment coming from him. coaches don't like to select players from losing teams and the raps are losing. they are dissapointing and when that happens, everyone on the team looks worse than they are.

but verejao over bosh? as mark jackson would say: come on jeff van gundy, you're better than that!!!

He says a hustle player should be in the ASG over a franchise player? That's just one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. And Bynum over Dwight? JVG really said these things?

I'm afraid Jeff may be losing it.
