Detroit was 6-9 in January, Philly was 10-5.
They aren't playing like they used to because the AI experiment has not worked out for them.
Remember that margin of victory is a key stat that is used to make his rankings. I suggest you go check some box scores for the Pistons the last couple weeks - they aren't playing very well.

Detroit's 11 of the next 14 games are against teams with winning records, and there isn't a single gimme. The worst team they'll face in this stretch is Chicago. Detroit is 25-21, but has been outscored by its opponents despite a fairly soft schedule and despite playing more home games than road games.
