Top 2009 free agents

Post#1 » by ropjhk » Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:26 pm

So who should the Raps go for in free agency?

Who can they get?

If they resign Parker and Marion, they will probably have no cap room left.

Here are the big names:
Marion
Iverson
Kidd
Sheed
Boozer (expected to opt out)
Artest
Odom
Bibby
Grant Hill
Starbury

Others:
Anthony Parker
Drew Gooden
Kwame Brown
Damon Jones
Trevor Ariza
Bobby Jackson
Matt Barnes
Rasho
Brandon Bass

Ben Gordon for the 2 spot. Hes a bit of a chucker and undersized but he can do what we need him to, score on his own.
That's what she said.

IF Marion works out, re-sign him. AND re-sign Parker - he'll stay on the cheap.

Get Rasho back (I think he wants back anyway, loves the Serbian/Slovenian community here, as does his wife and children).

Try to get Grant Hill for someone off the bench.

I'd love to see Ariza on this team.

Ariza's way better than Moon, and a different player than Graham.

If Marion is re-signed (let's say for $8 million) and Parker too is re-signed, there will be no money to spend on other free agents outside of the veteran minimum.

If the Raptors have the opportunity to draft Earl Clark, then draft him. No point in signing Marvin Williams since Williams playing style is very similar to that of Clark in my opinion. I would personally love to bring back Marion, Parker or Nesterovic for a reasonable price.

Do you think that the teams that are targeting 2010 will be less willing to use their MLE or at least full MLE in 09?

So in essense their will be less teams with Cap Space to sign FAs and less competition for players who deserve the full MLE

for the record I would want Gordon, Ariza

Ariza is a diamond in the rough and could blossom under the right system. I would target him right away.

Parker is nice guy and all that but the 1st thing the Raps need to do is let him go elsewhere. It's that nice guy attitude that we have enough of and we need to get rid of him just to change the culture of this team because Bosh, Bargs and Jose give us enough of that. We need some real attitude.

In reality I'm willing to bet BC re-signs him because he's that "glue" guy () that BC finds so important and seems to think is the only way to win a title by having guys who can all win the Mr. Congeniality award. Yeah all these nice guys have sure helped us this year.
