Does the signing of Douby mean the end of Roko?

Post#1 » by McFurious1 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:13 pm

Why else would Colangelo give Douby a contract for next season? We already have Calderon, Ukic, and Banks locked up next year. This tells me that Ukic might be extendable, and as much as I like Roko IMO Colangelo is going to trade him by next season.

i think roko has a shot to prove he can be a good back up for jose next season. he has to work hard and develop a jumper though, or else he too will be the odd man out.

I'd try to get a veteran defensive PG and trade Roko to anyone who thinks he has good potential. Maybe we can move up in the draft or obtain another pick

No one is taking Banks without serious incentive.

I think all three will be here because none of them are traditionally ideal backups points. Douby is more a shooting guard anyway.

Trade Ukic for Goran Dragic straight up.

(I'm entirely basing this on my preference for blondes.)

It's a good thing none of us are GM's, or Jose would have been dumped after his 1st year.

I doubt Banks would be the odd man out if BC’s intention is to sign any players from the 2010 FA class. Banks trade value would sky rocket in a few years and it's best to keep Banks if BC has any chance of signing some big names.

Through speculation, it seems that Parker could be brought back to come off the bench for next season and it could be Douby who will re-place him coming off the bench instead, meaning AP might not even join the club for next season.

Douby is just another scrub. Besides, we need a 3rd man since Roko is still developing and not necessarily ready for big back-up minutes.

Would you rather have a backup PG with a similar skill level to Jose? How about we try to get TJ from Indiana? Wait...

I don't think Roko is going anywhere just yet. As I understand it, Douby is only signed through summer league, and is not guaranteed a contract for next season. But if he does come back, it would be a good indication that Colangelo is going to move Banks, probably in a package deal with someone else. If Marion is not interested in staying, BC said he would try a S&T. In that case, Banks could be shipped out with Marion again. It's almost like he is the guys sidekick.lol.

I really haven't seen Douby play, how is he? Is he better than Roko?

I think so. He can shoot and he can score better and seems to even be a better passer. Roko still seems raw and could improve but I like what Douby brings to the table better.

Problem with Roko is he needs some serious PT to get better at the NBA game. Not sure why they didn't give it to him the last month or two. Do we go into next year trying to give him time on the floor again? Meanwhile a guy like Douby...or many other D League PG types...could probably just play.

Ever since the Spurs game, I havent seen Roko do very much.

So if hes gone, I m cool with that, and cool with Tupac as our backup PG :)

Plus Roko's a ball hog.

Here's hoping Douby can be the homeless man's version of Gilbert Arenas.

I like Ukic though, he has the desire to be good. I don't think Colangelo's giving up on Roko like that.
