altering statistics would be tomfoolery.

i have a feeling player A is no longer in the league. but if he is. that means he has the exact same experience as Chris Bosh (same draft class?), and/or you only used a sample size of Player A's career statistics...

Alot of you might be overlooking the '6 season experience each' part.

problem is that basketball stats are not that relevant to understanding how a player impacts and team and organization.

going strictly by stats, the player is worth at least $15 mil a year.

but could be alot more based on many many many other factors.

Rahim vs Bosh. Verified by basketball-reference.

SAR played way more then 6 years in the league, unless OP just used Reefs first 6 seasons, compared to CB's. that'd make sense. Reef was an 18 & 7 player for career.

OP is comparing first 6 season's for each player...
#Raptors are 7-1. In 6 of the past 10 seasons, a team that has started a season 7-1 has gone on to win an NBA championship.

It is a clear case of tomfoolery. The thread starter has purposely selected the first six years so that the stats are close.

The only reason they are even is because Abdur Rahim had better numbers in his first and second year.

If you look at the last three years, the difference in PER is 3.0, rather then 1.0.... a difference in PER of 3.0 is very significant and does not indicate statistically similar players at all.

for sure. just realized. i was over thinking the 6 season experience statement. quite tricky with the words OP.

Reef vs. CB, first 6 seasons. did Shareef sign for the Max?

It is Reef and Bosh for their first 6 seasons (also the seasons where they turned 20 to 25), as has been (eventually) figured out.

We've put Bosh on more of a pedestal here but Rahim got a max deal didn't he? He wasn't worth it though. Bosh will get one too I'm sure, he likely won't be worth it either. I mean Rahim's 4 q rep tarnishes otherwise good career stats. If Bosh doesn't have playoff success, as he is yet to, why is it really so blasphemous of a comparison?

because shareef''s knees got worse and worse and he gradually stopped caring (imo)

shareef comparisons are pretty much always off the mark

You cant quantify these players based on statistics alone. The Reef comparison is so old and completely off base.
