All we can hope is Jennings is wrong about Rubio. I want to see how good he is because people say he is like J William. Sac with J Will was my favorite team in the Association. If he is a better mans JWill then no doubt he will impress.

Re: OT: Jennings on Rubio: "I think the dude is all hype"
I don't understand why anyone would expect Rubio to do workouts or be surprised or angry that he isn't. It is, or should be, already universally accepted that Rubio is a cut above the other PG prospects. He wouldn't stand to gain anything by working out. However, he could very well lose something... if he struggled he might very well fall back to the pack of PG prospects and slip in the draft. Guys like Jennings, Curry, Teague, Flynn etc. on the other hand are seen as being at more or less the same level as each other and so need all the hype they can get... hence the workouts. If they do well, they could separate themselves from the pack; if they struggle, they'll still probably be where they were before the workout, due to the dearth of PG prospects after that top group. It's not about being scared or not scared... it's a simple cost-benefit analysis. If Jennings was widely considered to be the best PG in the draft like Rubio is, I bet he wouldn't do workouts either, or would just do one token workout... there's no reason to in that situation.

lol....really funny and entertaining! i'm not so high on rubio, but man...jennings has been the proof of inconstancy all season long, he can't even open his mouth to talk ...bald faced guy at his best!
anyway rubio like he said has been playing basketball (at pro level on court in la liga) sice he was 14 ..at least he's got tons of experience to put on the desk ...i guess jennings overvalued his 1 (and..yes 1) year of euro pro basketball when most of the time he's been a bench warmer ...what a dude!

Bargnani himself didn't workout against other players before 2006 draft if i'm right... so it's not strange to see Rubio doing the same.
For all i know... Jennings is ALL HYPE at this point.

Ricky Rubio = Jason Williams without a jumpshot.
Brandon Jennings = Stephon Marbury pre-mental/emotional breakdown.
You decide. Personally, I'd take Johnny Flynn. Dude is practically Canadian and that is the best attribute to have bar none.

Re: OT: Jennings on Rubio: "I think the dude is all hype"
Confidence would be demanding to be matched up against the best during a teams work-out to prove it on the floor, not tossing jabs through a reporter.
All these comments are showing me is that guys like Holliday and Flynn are proving it on the floor and Jennings is concerned that his drop from the top seven may be a LONG one, he is in a PG heavy draft and the only time I hear about Jennings is when he chatters whereas the other non-Rubio PG's in the draft actually make the news based on how much they impressed the teams they are working out for.
Don't confuse confidence with fear.

Re: OT: Jennings on Rubio: "I think the dude is all hype"
Rubio is definitely overhyped but so are most prospects. That doesn't mean he won't be good in the NBA. Being overhyped doesn't mean you are a bad player, but rather that people are expecting more out of you than they should. I've heard people say Rubio will average 12 assists per game next year because of the numbers he put up in Europe. I call that overhyping.
But regarding what Jennings said, Rubio being "all hype", I do not agree with said statement. He's implying that Rubio isn't good at all, which isn't true. He may be slightly overated by some fans, but he's still a great prospect.

Re: OT: Jennings on Rubio: "I think the dude is all hype"
The question is, what's more telling:
Rubio's fine play vs. the world's best at the Olympics?
or
Jennings complete failure playing overseas in Europe?

We ask the above question because we all know who won the battle off the floor, even if Ricky Rubio wasn't around to defend himself against Brandon Jennings.
Chances are, Rubio wouldn't have been able to stop Jennings no matter where he was.
The 19-year-old is simply too quick. That was the prevailing impression among those who watched Jennings play. The viewing audience was just like the majority of hoops fans out there, largely unfamiliar with Jennings game because he left to play in Italy after playing his high school ball at Dominguez Hills in Compton and the esteemed Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. But as he faced off mostly against Syracuse's power-packed point guard Jonny Flynn, Jennings impressed in a big way during the full-court scrimmage.
The winner of this main event, during and after, was Jennings. But because there was no extended video permitted to be shot (no surprise there considering the high stakes of this kind of face off), I decided to take verbal notes while watching the scrimmage. For the most curious of you out there, here is a play-by-play that is somewhat revealing. The bolded line was the highlight of the outing.
* Jonny misses jumper over Jennings
* Flynn and Jennings guarding each other, Holiday with Notre Dame guy
* Jennings denies Flynn, plays tight
* Jennings gets free off screen, hits jumper in the lane
* Jennings short on jumper top of key against Flynn
* Flynn misses drive,
* Jennings takes charge from big, nope they called block
* Holiday rotates on Jennings, who stutter steps gets around him right baseline and hits layup - no problem getting by Holiday
* Notre Dame guy hits jumper left baseline from Holiday assist
* Jennings loses Flynn on pick, finds guy for dunk coming left
* Jennings steps back, almost three top of arc over Flynn
* Jennings misses jumper over Flynn, left wing,
* Holiday dunk on the break, Jennings can't get there for LeBron-style block (only lower)
* Flynn misses layup in traffic, Jennings the other way gets blocked - layup by Holiday
* Jennings loses Flynn on screen, misses layup baseline
* Flynn loses Jennings on screen up top, finds big man down low for layup
* Holiday big board in traffic with two others, finds big left wing - 20-footer good
* Flynn left wing, 20-footer
* Holiday pull-up left wing, good over big
* Flynn floats right, flip pass left wing, three-pointer good
* Flynn goes at Jennings in the lane, Jennings contests, and Flynn misses a five-footer
* Guard hits a long two over Holiday coming off a screen
* Jennings top of key stepback miss over Flynn
* Holiday right wing, finds big through traffic, layup good
* Holiday goes hard for layup, Jennings contests and Holiday misses
* Holiday driving left, finds Flynn on right wing, who buries a three
* Jennings misses three from top, somewhat contested
* Jennings takes a spill in the three-man weave, gets quick breather and is back at it again
* Holiday throws to self on three-man weave off backboard for the dunk.

Re: OT: Jennings on Rubio: "I think the dude is all hype"
A few thoughts:
1. Rubio is an overhyped NBA prospect.
2. People read way too much into Rubio's Olympic performance against the USA.
3. Rubio has been showing his game for many years now at the top level outside the NBA. He has nothing to prove.
4. When they faced each other, Rubio was so injured that he couldn't shoot and he barely could dribble with his right hand. I still don't know why he came back so early from that injury.
5. Top picks often don't take part in competitive workouts.
6. A workout is a workout. Basketball is another story.
7. Rubio's game is badly suited for a workout. Jennings' game is nicely suited for a workout.
8. Jennings rejected to go to Treviso to play five-on-five.
9. Jennings' season has been so lousy that he wasn't able to crack into his Italian team's playoff roster.
10. He should claim his superiority over Rubio on a basketball court, playing basketball, real baskeball. So far, he has failed miserably.
11. Jennings is just another big mouth speaking out of frustration.
- Kid, just grow up.
Anyway, it puzzles me to see so many people here supporting his words. Really disappointing.

Also, please provide a link which states these pg's held back. I am no Ricky fan, but to say he is all hype is crap.
He is all hype in the sense that folks are talking like he's already HOF. He needs to proove that by actually playing some NBA games first. I'm sure he'll be good, but will he be great?
Where are you pulling this out of?
In this **** draft, people are talking about him maybe being an all-star at best. I haven't heard of anyone stating he is going to be a hof. wow!

Sounds like Holiday was the best player in that workout. Really hope we draft him if he's there at 9.

Even if my statement about Rubio is big time hyperbole relating to folks post, I stand by my point. I have been reading about Rubio and his achievments and about him as a prospect long before I knew this was a supposedly lousy draft. I've read posts stating he will join CP, and company as one of the premiere PG's in this "era of PG's". I never said you said it, and maybe no one did say it, that wasn't my intended point. I meant he "has a lot of hype", and although I'm not a doubter, it will not be easy to live up to. wow!
