He was more efficient than Rudy Gay and number of other guards. You cannot look at FG% alone, it is by far the most meaningless/misleading stat i've come across in sports. True Shooting % is a much more reliable measure for offensive efficiency, Delfino's TS%(.527) is not great or anything but its not as bad as people think it is. He's a good defender and rebounds the leather out of the ball, solid player to have on the bench
And that is what is being overlooked. Delfino is a better option than anyone we had at this position last year. If he winds up in the starting line-up come November, then it is because we did not further improve the team. But having him on the roster is already a step in the right direction towards deepening the bench. It's a process, piece by piece, and Delfino is not a bad place to start.
