Take with lots of salt: Battier/Brooks for Udrih/4?

Post#1 » by Maritimer » Thu Jun 25, 2009 7:05 pm

Separate tidbit form the Givony article that gives us the Harris to Minny rumour...

The fact that we’re hearing these rumors makes them somewhat newsworthy, but considering the timing and nature of draft day, we’re extremely skeptical about the veracity of these reports, so take them with a grain of salt.

-Houston sends Shane Battier and Aaron Brooks to Sacramento for Beno Udrih at the #4 pick. A third team might have to get involved to make the salaries work. Most people around the league believe that Houston is very happy with their team at the moment, and that McGrady is really the only player they are looking to move.

The RealGM draft day rumour mill was saying that Houston is talking with a bunch of teams trying to move into the top 10... I can't this move really fitting either team's needs, but take it for what it's worth...

Who is Houston aiming for then? They give up a PG at his highest value to date and Battier whose stock is also reasonably high in hopes of snatching up...Curry? Evans? Harden? Someone else?

Banks/Hump 9 for Battier
why was hakeem called "the dream"??"

Because it rhymes with 'Olajuwon'.

No doubt man im so disappointed, BC since the trade deadline was telling us all how much flexbility we had and how we would be such big players wit the economy+flexibility and yet we ain't doing nothing.

Lets hope that changes tonight

wow the sacramento queens have it pretty bad. if they don't walk away from this draft with a decent player to build around, they're destined for another cellar season. this trade would not help things.

at least you get the sense that if toronto stands pat they have a core that can win games. not so in sacramento.

Why do people think that this means that BC is doing nothing? Isn't it more likely that we're fans of an organization that actually keeps things close to the vest?

Honestly, some of you just WANT to complain.

Maritimer you have been a machine this past month. Keep it up my man!

Bad trade for Houston. They take in a big salary in Udrih while acquiring the 4th pick for a very good defensive player in Battier and a exciting, young PG.

Lose lips and such. BC runs a tight ship, no leaks. Deals that have leaked out have only because the other parties leaked them trying to, say , get more value for Marion that a decrepit JO.

Battier is essentially Marion-lite

So wouldn't we be better off re-signing Marion...and using the 9th pick on a young player with more upside than Battier?

Although...I'm all for ridding ourselves of the two contracts you mentioned...

This...

Do some of you seriously think BC is not trying to explore available options?

Maybe there is a reason for that. Who heard anything when BC originally signed Kapono? Who heard anything about BC trading Kapono? 98% of the rumors we have discussed on here will turn out to be just that. RUMORS. I'm sure BC has some cards up his sleeve and will do everything he can to improve this team. I'm pretty excited for tonight. Even if we stand pat and pick at 9. It's always fun to talk about a new rookie coming into the system.

Please explain to me how Battier and Marion are similar players.
