OT - Randolph trade nixed on draft night

Post#1 » by TimoCruz » Sat Jun 27, 2009 4:10 pm

The Grizzlies and Clippers agreed in principle to a trade involving Zach Randolph, but Los Angeles owner Donald Sterling nixed the deal.

During Thursday night's NBA Draft, the two clubs worked out a deal centered around Randolph and Darko Milicic. Memphis guard Greg Buckner would have also been part of the trade.

After Sterling stopped the deal, the Grizzlies traded Milicic to the Knicks for Quentin Richardson.

Question: would you have done that?....

i say good move by the clips..randolph is worth way more than that.

aside from his personal problems he is a great post player and at times unstoppable. if he could play some d i would love to have him on our team.

Gotta bring someone on board to mentor Gasol? haha, Z-Bo would've been an amazing influence on that young team. Too bad it didn't happen.

Randolph is ABSOLUTELY NOT worth more than an expiring contract and a nonguaranteed contract.

Sterling is a **** moron.

Probably fake news Sterling planted to increase the Cancer's trade value, right now i wouldn't even give crappy contracts for him.

Two of the worst organizations in the league squabble over the worth of one of the biggest losers in the league.

Pathetic... in a TMZ kind of way.

Wow... The clippers should've took that deal and said PEACEEEEEEEE. I don't know how many teams in the league would give up something for Randolph.

Clips should have taken any opportunity to get rid of Z-Bo.

Kinda surprised that Sterling was the one that rejected the deal. Griffin should just ask for a trade now and get outta there ASAP.

Randolph is a really good player. Forget about his attitude and personality, he is a 20/10 guy.
He's really underrated because of his attitude/personality.

He's sometimes selfish too, but he is worth more than that. I think he can be a good player on a bad team like Memphis

There must have been more to it than that. I can't imagine Memphis ever offering that, nor the Clippers ever rejecting it.

this should be linked and put onto Bill Simmons Curse column of the Clippers...despite finally getting rid of a "forward" and acquiring a centre..at least it gives Griffin reigns at the PF lol

When you thought they were going to do something right for once on draft night, they end up screwing up once again.

Makes you wonder how much blame Baylor really deserved. Too bad Darko wasn't Korean. I can't believe Sterling hasn't brought in Ha.

I guess the posters talking up Zach's stats have never heard of addition by subtraction. Man, how would the Clippers ever have replaced (or improved upon) Randolph's stats and leadership qualities? If only they had a young PF who deserves as many minutes as he can handle.
