He's cheap.
He's eager to learn, switch roles, do what he's told.
He wants to play in Toronto.

That's the keys for me.
I assume he's been told by JT/BC to gear towards the SF position. So he's doing as he's been told. It's managements' responsibilities to gather talent and give them their roles. Obviously someone upstairs things he has the potential to play the 3.

In my opinion it is way too soon to pass judgements and assume the worst. It's off season for goodness sake. We haven't even seen him play a few games , or even half a season at the small forward.
This experiement might fall on its face or we may find a new gem at our SF.
In recent Raptor history we've seen much higher paid/touted players on the team who ended up being a bust. I see Pops as a low risk huge reward scenerio , in comparison.

Let's wait and see how it goes before we freak out.

seriously if can guard SFs on D and then play around the basket/paint on offense where he just grabs boards and then passes them back out

that works for me

That may also work well for Bargnani so he can stay outside more on offense.

yeah honestly we aren't talking our starting SF or even back up probably but the concept works and Pops is an interesting weapon (defense and aggression) off the bench

Pops and Evans could be on the floor together to bust some nuts

Beat me to the response. What a thug group that would be.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

when we have a shooting centre with one of the worst rebounding rates, having a SF with one of the best rebounding rates helps

we have a non traditional C and a perimeter oriented PF so it makes sense to compliment them with non traditional SFs ....hell Marion can't shoot either :)

 Stick Bosh at centre so he can get demolished and put our best defending big man on the bench. Makes sense!

Please just stay away from this god damn team, im so tired of players that just can't accept who they are.

LoL

if he learns to play the 3, would he no longer be able to play the 4 anymore?? Is it one or the other??

there is no risk in versatility... especially for a one-dimensional energy guy like Pops.

Again with the reading comprehension fail, made especially worse by the fact that SkinnyP noted 3 posts before yours that nowhere does he suggest this should be our starting lineup. Well done.

The worst that can happen is that he learns how to shoot and becomes quicker... He's becoming a more complete player...

its not whether a player can play a position offensively, its can he defend it?

and i think pops is more then capable of guarding sf's in the league. with so much range at pf and center on this roster, pops at the 3 will work at times

I disappointed you by jokingly adding another rebounder to a joking lineup of rebounders?

Agree plus I can see him getting some sweet shotblocks in when he does get burned off the perimeter

The man can't dribble, pass, or shoot on offense.
He lacks the lateral quickness to defend wing players....

Other than that, he'll be a great sf.

Really?
You need me to lay it out for you?

Okee Dokee then...
If I had said something like What an interesting starting lineup.

Instead it was meant more like...these are players on our team and there is a good chance they could end up on the floor together at the same time...and if they did that it would be, interesting

ya with me now?
I can get even deeper into the whole thing if you still need more clarification
