I was actually (no jokes) just thinking yesterday how that'd be such an amazing thing to do if I could ever afford it... to build an elevator which went down into a cave below my house. You'd have to get quite a large property to do this, and probably in some remote area, but it's certainly quite possible, even if you're not as rich as granger.

I thought this would've been done by now. The funny thing is, me and my friend back in HS were having a discussion about rich celebrities like Tom Cruise owning homes with bat caves. I guess Danny G is the first one.

BTW Danny G is making peanuts right now, so I guess it isn't that expensive.

This is what pro athletes should be spending their money on.

The problem with pro athletes is their love of conspicuous consumption...the purchase of flashy, unnecessary things simply because they are flashy and unnecessary. A good Batcave, on the other hand, is buried under a mountain. Nothing conspicuous about that.

And the best investment is something rare and iconic. Take a Rothko; just a few bloody stripes of paint, but they are easily recognizable and sell for tens of millions. Now, consider a Batcave: there can't be more than a couple dozen of them in the continental United States (hard to know what the exact number is, as your old-money Batcave-types don't really advertise), so the demand for Batcaves vastly exceeds the supply. And when you walk into a Batcave, you bloody well know you're in a Batcave. Heady business move by Granger.

Now, the one thing he needs to take into consideration is that one needs to keep a Batcave modern and relevant if it is to retain its value, and upkeep can be expensive. A tired old Batcave with a creaky and slow revolving-fake-wall-that-disguises-your-stash-of-high-tech-weaponry-thing won't do. You need to change your Batcave with the times, otherwise someone else will come along with a flashy Fortress of Solitude or Castle Greyskull and suddenly you're scrambling to keep up with the Kents again.

His strong academic record and 30 ACT score also led to a financial package offer from Yale. The elder Granger pleaded for his son to get an Ivy League education, but Danny said he felt uncomfortable on his visit and elected to study civil engineering at Bradley. Even though he was Bradley's leading scorer as a sophomore, Granger said he never seriously thought about playing in the NBA. He often was the pessimist whenever his teammates discussed making it to the league. "When they would talk about the NBA I'd say: 'Y'all know the statistics of people going to the NBA. It's very low. You might as well use this to get a degree, so that you don't have hoop dreams your entire life,' " Granger said.

Why would you bash somebody for doing what THEY want with THEIR money? Is he using the City of Toronto's tax money to fund this or something? And how is he going to end up penniless because of this?
